27-year-old man arrested in connection with a shooting on Neqotkuk First Nation

RCMP continue to investigate incident

The West District RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit has arrested a 27-year-old man from Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) in connection with a shooting in the community.

On July 5, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., members of the Perth-Andover and Tobique RCMP detachments responded to a report of a shooting on Neqotkuk.

When police arrived, they located a 32-year-old man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transferred to the hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries.

The West District RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit began investigating the incident with assistance from RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services and members of the Tobique RCMP.

Later that same day, police arrested a 27-year-old man from Tobique First Nation in connection with the investigation. He was later released, pending a future court appearance.
