Arrest made, but no other details released

In a news release on Saturday, Aug. 16, the Western Valley Region RCMP said that a 30-year-old man from Benton who was wanted in connection with a series of offences in the Woodstock region was arrested.

On July 25, the RCMP were patrolling in Benton when they encountered an individual operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without a helmet. The individual, a 30-year-old man from Benton, was known to police and is currently on several conditions, including being prohibited from driving and being bound by an ankle monitor, which he had cut off. Police attempted to stop the man, who then ran his ATV into a police vehicle and proceeded to flee.

A short time later, police observed the man driving his ATV through the parking lot of the RCMP detachment in Woodstock and through the front lawn of the Woodstock Provincial Courthouse. Both properties sustained minor damage.
