River Valley residents come together to enjoy a fun-filled week
New Brunswick’s first town came to life last week with the annual Old Home Week festivities.
For many, Old Home Week’s fair is the week’s highlight. Campbell Amusements supplies the rides from Wednesday, July 31, to Saturday, Aug 3. This year’s lines for the Freak Out and the Fury stretch back to the opposite end of the fair.
Mya Clark has been coming to Old Home Week since she was a child, and at 20, she still looks forward to it every year.
“I love the good mix between Harness Racing, the good old Carleton County fun, and also the Freak Out because when does that kind of stuff come to Woodstock that has that kind of a thrill,” said Clark.
Many vendors have had a successful few days while set up on the fairgrounds. Dean Wood from Big John’s Spiral Potatoes says Old Home Week is perfect for attracting more customers.
“Oh, it’s been great. There are always lots of people around, and it’s fun to see,” said Wood.
There are still some Old Home Week activities happening tonight. Live boxing will take place at 7 p.m. in the ARY Motor Centre. Tickets cost $25 per person and $275 per table.
The New Brunswick Hall of Fame Music Show will start at 7 p.m. at the McCain Community Theatre. Tickets are $20 at the door.
Fireworks will go off at 10:30 p.m. in the Connell Park Raceway to celebrate the end of an exciting week.
