Summer literacy programming set to begin in Upper River Valley

By Hannah MacFarlane

Wondering how to keep your kids occupied while school is out for the summer? Libraries in our area have many programs for children to educate and amuse them during the summer break. The River Valley Sun spoke with several representatives from libraries in the Upper River Valley to get all the details on their summer plans.

NACKAWIC-MILLVILLE

Nackawic Public Library also has a fun-filled summer in store. According to SRC Activity Leader Maddie Crabbe,

“The library is gearing up for liftoff with our junior astronauts for this year’s Summer Reading Club,” said SRC leader Maddie Crabbe. Their theme is also ‘Limitless Reading.’ Crabbe said the library staff are working hard to prepare for the launch, and she can’t wait to guide readers on a journey through space, time and imagination.

“From galaxies far, far away to the wonders of our planet Earth, junior astronauts will rocket through stories of adventure, curiosity, and discovery,” explained Crabbe.

Weekly storytimes begin Wednesday, June 25; preschool storytime is at 10:30 a.m., and school-aged storytime is at 2:30 p.m. Other programs the Nackawic Public Library offers are Creativity Camp, Taste Buds Cooking Camp, STEAM camp, and Family Book Walks on the Nackawic Nature Trail.
