Funds from event to help seniors, students and community

Who wants to win $10,000? The Rotary Club of Perth-Andover will award one lucky ticket holder a large cheque at the club’s annual cash draw planned for May 20. Ticket sales are now underway.

The annual cash draw is a major fundraiser for the club. Rotarians Rhonda Kennedy and Angela Leonard, co-chairpersons for the event, expect brisk sales for the 500 available tickets.

“The money raised by this event helps so many worthwhile projects. It allows our club to make financial contributions to Making A Difference Food Bank, the Gorge Quilt Guild, the Tobique Valley High School Backpack Program, Christmas Cheer and many others,” Rhonda Kennedy said. “Community support means we can continue to assist worthwhile causes in our region.”

The draw will give away $16,000, including three $1,000 prizes, at the early-bird ticket draw planned for May 4 at noon.

The cash draw will be held at the Perth-Andover Elk’s Club and on the club’s Facebook Live page on May 20, starting at 7 p.m.

Angela Leonard explained that the cash draw is a reverse raffle, with the last ticket left in the barrel declared the $10,000 winner.

“Other tickets drawn throughout the evening are eligible for prizes from $100 to $1,000,” Leonard said.

Tickets cost $60 and are available from Perth-Andover Rotary members and two Perth-Andover area businesses: Shaw’s Service Station and Dr. Terry Shaw’s office, Perth-Andover Dental.
