Blaze compounds pain as family works through grief of losing husband, father earlier this year
The community of Dumfries, near Nackawic, is asking the public for help as they work to support a family going through unimaginanble circumstances.
In April, father and husband Jeffrey Caterini died after an highway accident, leaving behind his wife Allison and two young sons, Jaxson and Logan. On Sunday, July 5, the family home burned, taking family pets with it.
Now the community is coming together to support the Caterini family after this extraordinary loss.
In an emailed statement, community member Karen Rae said their focus is on the family and wrapping them in comfort.
“During times like these, the strength and compassion of a community can make all the difference,” she wrote.
On Friday, July 10, there will be a community spaghetti dinner fundraiser at Dumfries Maples from 6 to 8 p.m. in support of the family. The event will also feature a silent auction and a live baked-goods auction. All proceeds will go directly to help the family as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.
“Every ticket purchased, auction bid placed, donation made, and act of support will help lighten the burden this family is carrying. Most importantly, it will remind them that they are not facing these challenges alone,” said Rae. “We encourage everyone to come together, share a meal, and show Allison, Jaxson, and Logan the caring spirit that makes our community so special.”
For people who might want to donate to the event or offer goods and services for the auction, you can reach Karen Rae at (506) 261-9949
