The ‘French Fry Capital of the World’ has expanded its celebration of those delicious golden potato sticks to a week of fun at the District of Carleton North (DCN).
“It was time to celebrate French fries in a bigger way…. As our district continues to grow, we want to give people more chances to come together and enjoy community events,” said Sharon Johnston, DCN Tourism, Heritage, and Culture Manager. Expanding the week-long celebration, traditionally held on the second Friday of July, to have greater community impact was the goal.
The week-long festival hosted activities in Bath, Florenceville-Bristol, and Centreville.

The inaugural French Fry Festival kicked off July 6. It included six days of fun activities, including children’s activities, crafting workshops, live music, a “Touch a Truck” event, games, a “Family Fun Day” at the Northern Carleton Civic Centre, and ending with the popular McCain Family Day.
Johnston said the district also “worked with local businesses to help promote French fries…creating their own special dish just for the festival, which added something unique and fun for visitors and locals to try.”
Johnston said that community support, including District partners and service clubs, helped create a successful event.
