Nods recognize contributions to New Brunswick’s live music scene from Hartland, Carleton North and Perth‑Andover

Three local organizations have been nominated for this year’s Music New Brunswick Awards.

Hartland’s The Scene Promotions is nominated for “Champion of the Year,” Carleton North’s Second Wind Music Centre for “Venue of the Year,” and Perth-Andover’s Larlee Creek Hullabaloo for “Festival of the Year.”

The Scene Promotions launched in 2022 and has produced more than 50 concerts, festivals, community events, and the annual Battle of the Bands in Woodstock.

Corey Crouse runs The Scene Promotions; he says the business has brought artists from across New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada, and beyond to rural stages while also helping local artists, rising stars, young talents, and those who might not have seen themselves represented in traditional live music spaces shine.

“It feels great to have all the hard work and commitment that our team has put in to be recognized by our peers in the music community,” said Crouse

“I might be the person organizing the shows, but there’s an entire community of people who have helped turn The Scene Promotions into what it is. So being nominated feels like the recognition that all of those efforts, from a lot of different people, have added up to something meaningful.”

Second Wind Music Centre was established in 2014 after Peter McLaughlin and Anne Turner bought the former Bristol United Baptist Church.

The centre is used as a concert venue and offers music lessons. It’s also used as a rental space for private gatherings, exercise classes, and driver’s education.

Larlee Creek Hullabaloo, also known as the “Little Festival that Could,” is a music festival based in Perth-Andover. It’s known for hosting artists from across the East Coast across a variety of genres.

“It’s an incredible honour to be nominated for Festival of the Year. The Hullabaloo has been built over many years by a dedicated team of volunteers who have worked hard, dreamed big and put a tremendous amount of heart into creating something special in our community,” said Heidi Baird, Larlee Creek Hullabaloo Artistic Director.

“To have that work recognized by our music industry peers, alongside such an outstanding group of fellow nominees, means a great deal to all of us.”

The award ceremony will take place in Moncton at the Aberdeen Centre on Oct. 22, at 8 p.m.
