Four vying for two seats after council resignations this year
Advance voting takes place this Saturday, Oct. 10, for local government by-elections, including two in Lakeland Ridges.
Residents of Wards 1 and 3 can cast ballots at the advance polls, which will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Ward 1 residents can vote at the North Lake Community Centre. Ward 3 residents can vote at the Meductic Community Centre.
Ward 1 includes North Lake, Fosterville, Forest City, Green Mountain, Pemberton Ridge, Maxwell, and East Grand Lake. Ward 3 is the region south of Woodstock, from Bulls Creek to Meductic, and includes Temple, Ritchie, and down Route 122 to Dow Settlement.
Running in Ward 1 are Gregory Boone and Leonard Foster. Vying for the council seat in Ward 3 are Eric M. Cummings and Michael MacIlroy.
Any eligible voter may vote at the advance poll.
Voters should have received a voter information card in the mail showing the locations of their advance and ordinary polls. If you do not receive a card, you can check polling station locations on the Elections New Brunswick website or call your local returning office.
Election day for these by-elections is Monday, Oct. 19, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
People can also vote by special ballot at any returning office until Monday, Oct. 19; these offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 650 Main Street, in Woodstock.
Any voter who is unable to leave home or is hospitalized and cannot attend the advance or ordinary polls may request that the returning office for their municipal region bring a special ballot to them.
