Local ATV club’s trip to Victoria County takes a few ‘neighbours’ from Maine along for ride
We sure have had some great bumbles this season, maybe not as many as usual, but any day on the trails is a “good day.” What better way to celebrate July 1st! We had flags and other decorations on our ATV’s. We had 15 ATV’s (30 people) gather at the trailhead in Perth-Andover. What a joy it was to have four bumbling enthusiasts from Maine, whom we met in June at a rally, join us to help us celebrate.
Anthony and Grace guide our group today as they know the trails in Victoria County. Leaving the trailhead, we bumble across the bridge to the Perth side and up along the Saint John River, passing the Tobique Dam and towards Arthurette. It is so beautiful along the river with the wildflowers (daisies, lupins, wild roses, buttercups).
We cross over the road in Arthurette to the Leonord Colony ATV Trail. We stop at the warming hut to stretch our legs and chat with others enjoying the day. Time to move on. Bumbling back towards Perth, we take some great trails that lead us to the hill overlooking the town.

It is time for our potluck lunch. Everything is spread out on the tables in the warming hut. Can you smell those hot dogs cooking and, of course, Brian’s famous goulash? So much food, and we all enjoyed it. It is so awesome to hear the storytelling and laughing, and everyone’s bellies are full.
The next leg of our bumble takes us back down into Perth, over the bridge and up the trail to the ATV Bridge, which crosses the river where the Saint John and Aroostook Rivers meet. Tomlinson Lake is our next stop. It is a beautiful little lake with lots of history and a great place for a picnic. As we start back to our starting point, we can not leave without stopping at Fred’s Mountain. A beautiful view of the Aroostook River, Tinker Dam, and farming country.
As we bumble on, it is a “must” to show our friends “The Big Pine.” This tree changed the new highway’s plans. Lots of history here as well. It’s the end of our day, so onto the trailhead we go. As we pack up, we talk about today’s adventures, and all agree it was a great day.
Thank you, Anthony and Grace, for leading the troops, and thank you, Perth Andover, for allowing ATVs to pass through your town. Did I hear, “Where is the next adventure?”
Happy Trails. Until we meet again…
