Space provides secure spot to complete marketplace transactions

The Woodstock Police Force (WPF) now has a “Safe Exchange Zone” beside their station.

The Woodstock Police Force is excited to announce a “Safe Exchange Zone” at its station, located at 824 Main Street. This initiative gives residents a secure place to complete online marketplace transactions.

The designated area is well-lit and monitored 24/7 by video surveillance to deter fraud and protect community members buying or selling items through platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, and Craigslist.

“As online buying and selling grows, so does the need for a neutral, secure environment to finalize these sales,” said WPF Community Engagement Officer Cst. Corey Porter.

“By establishing this zone right under our security cameras, we are giving community members a safe alternative to meeting strangers at private residences or unfamiliar parking lots.”
