Summer student ready to welcome visitors
Creek Village Gallery in Woodstock is known for its talented local artists and artisans. With over 30 artists/artisans in the gallery, you can find a bit of everything, including their summer student, Rylea Hubbert.
“Rylea always focuses on creating a warm, welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors,” says the gallery’s HR director, Paul Twyford.
Hubbert was drawn to work at Creek Village Gallery because of her interest in English and Art History, which she will be studying when she attends Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B., this fall.
Hubbert says she has always been passionate about music and has taken piano and voice lessons for over 10 years. To her, music is a form in which she can express herself, enjoying it as much as the listeners.
Hubbert has performed in various venues around the Woodstock area, including the Dooryard Arts Festival, the HDSJ Hospital Auxiliary Christmas Concert, the Carleton County Musical Festival, and with the Woodstock High School Musical Program.
“When I step into the lights on the stage, with hundreds of eyes watching only me in that moment, I feel alive,” said Hubbert.
Another form in which Hubbert enjoys expressing herself is through writing- mostly poetry. For as long as she can remember, writing has been her way of capturing thoughts and feelings that are hard to put into words- turning quiet reflections into lines on a page.
At Creek Village Gallery, Hubbert has taken the responsibility of creating social media posts about the many artists/artisans, as well as conducting interviews with customers and artists/artisans eager to share their stories. These tasks match her passion for writing, making them very enjoyable for her.
“Rylea is a very kind person who warmly welcomes the customers,” said Barb Sharp, founder of Beyond the Bend Tours.
Hubbert said she is delighted to be part of the Creek Village Gallery team and looks forward to all the opportunities she will have to meet customers and artists/artisans this summer.
