UPDATE: Red Cross provides temporary support for two adults and three
children displaced when fire destroys Bull Lake home
Nackawic Fire and Rescue reported Saturday, Dec. 3, that residents in a
rural community, northwest of Nackawic, escaped unharmed from an
overnight blaze that engulfed their home.
“Early this morning, Nackawic Fire and Rescue, with the help of our
neighbours in North York (Millville and Keswick), responded to a fully
involved residence fire,” the fire department stated in a social media
post. “The residents were able to evacuate safely with no injuries.”
The fire occurred on Hickey Road in Bull Lake, in the Waterville, York
County area.
Dan Bedell, communications director, Atlantic, for the Canadian Red
Cross confirmed it helped the family of five displaced by fire that
destroyed their house.
“Canadian Red Cross volunteers have assisted two adults and three
children with emergency lodging and purchases like food, clothing, and
some other basics.” said Bedell in a news release. “There were no
injuries from the fire along Hickey Road, reported around 4 a.m.
Saturday.”
In its post, Nackawic Fire and Rescue recognized the traumatic
experience such fires create for the residents.
“Losing a residence to a fire is a difficult thing to live through,
especially at this time of year,” the fire department post stated.
“Thankfully, everyone involved is safe and thank you to our North York
neighbours for the assistance.”
