Ryan Dickinson returns to municipal politics
Ryan Dickinson is the new councillor for the District of Carleton North’s Ward 4. The May 6 byelection saw Dickinson fill the seat vacated by councillor Ray Haines when he resigned last year.
Dickinson beat out two other candidates, Syl Amos and Corey Goodwin. This is Dickinson’s second time serving on a municipal council. He served on the Florenceville-Bristol Town Council before amalgamation. He did run in the last election but didn’t capture a seat.
Dickinson said he put a lot of effort into this campaign, going “door to door speaking to residents.”
Dickinson’s ward includes Florenceville-Bristol, Oakland, Peel, and Stickney.
He says he’s looking forward to serving his community.
“It will be nice to get started again in an official capacity,” said Dickinson.
District of Carleton North Mayor Andrew Harvey said Dickinson is a welcomed choice.
“He has a good interest in the community and he’ll be a great councillor. He brings a good perspective with him and we’re looking forward to having him join us,” he said after the election.
