Sabian to hold first hiring fair
“We’re trying something new and different this time,” beamed HR manager at Sabian Cymbals Cassandra Stairs when beginning to speak about Sabian’s upcoming job fair.
The fair, to be held on Friday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will be a first for Sabian in many ways, Stairs said.
“We’re actually going to be doing interviews on the spot, so somebody [will walk] in with their resume and references; they’ll have the ability to interview, then in there we will take them around the plant, show them the different positions available, and just kind of let them get a feel for Sabian and our team,” said Stairs.
The two main positions being offered at the fair are additions to the company’s oven workers, who work with the initial castings of cymbals, and lathe workers who are responsible for shaping the cymbals and getting them to their desired weight.
According to Stairs, Sabian is looking to hire up to five new workers for the above positions.
She later added that both positions require no prior experience and that, if accepted, new hires will be put through a training programme.
“We need people that are passionate and are going to bring that same energy to join the team,” said Stairs, summing up what is expected of applicants.
“We are not just producing pieces; we’re producing something artists are really looking for … they love that we do a lot of this by hand, so it is a chance to kind of connect with what you are making, “ said Stairs when asked what she wanted the readers to know about the fair and Sabian.
Stairs predicted that, if the fair is successful, the event and others like it are likely to become a continued endeavour at Sabian.
