RCMP say two people now in custody.

The RCMP has called off the Emergency Alert issued shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, July 29. In a social media post at 10 a.m., the RCMP said the Alert Ready for Zealand and Burtt’s Corner areas has now concluded, and two people are now in custody.

The RCMP says there is no “further risk to the public,” and added that “residents may resume normal activities.”

The initial alert said the RCMP was searching for “individuals reported to be carrying firearms in the area of the 104 highway in Zealand and Burtt’s Corner.”

People in that area were asked to shelter in place and avoid the area. In the social media post announcing the operation’s conclusion, the RCMP thanked the public for their cooperation.
