A 25-year-old York County resident faces a long list of charges after fleeing Woodstock Police officers on Feb. 22.
The Woodstock Police Force issued a news release announcing a 25-year-old driver from York County was arrested and charged after his vehicle struck a police cruiser, a parked car and fled a traffic stop.
“Members of the Woodstock Police Force conducted a traffic stop on red Honda Civic, for an impaired driving investigation on Main Street. Officers observed the vehicle squealing its tires and swerving from side to side,” the release said. “The suspect vehicle came to a stop, and a second marked police vehicle attended the location, to assist. Without warning, the suspect vehicle accelerated away, colliding with the front of the second marked police vehicle, as well as an unoccupied parked vehicle, before fleeing the scene.”
Police attempted to stop the vehicle a second time, but the vehicle fled on Highway 105, evading officers. With the assistance of RCMP members from the Woodstock and Nackawic detachments, the suspect was located and arrested at his residence in York County, the release said.
“The suspect driver, a 25-year-old male, stands charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired; operation of a motor vehicle while impaired over 80mg; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; assault with a weapon; flight from a peace officer and failure to stop after an accident,” the release said.
