Scenes from the Great Solar Eclipse Family Party at AYR Motor Centre in Woodstock

Hundreds of local and visiting families attended several events in Woodstock on Sunday, April 7, as the town hosted Eclipse Family Fun Day.

Eclipse Weekend saw activities throughout the Upper Valley in the days before the sun’s total eclipse on Monday afternoon, April 8.

After a busy Saturday, Sunday’s events included music from Swift Kick, a Taylor Swift Tribute Band at the McCain Theatre and an adult comedy show Sunday evening at the Full Moon Tavern.

The big draw on Sunday afternoon was the Great Solar Eclipse Family Party at the AYR Motor Field House and pool.

Woodstock Recreation Program Coordinator Jill Dunnet said several hundred people took advantage of the fun event, which included children forming long lineups for eclipse-themed face painting, a half-dozen bouncy castles, colouring contests, games, family activities, swimming, and dance music from a DJ.

Several bouncy castles provided plenty of options for children to release their pre-eclipse energy at Sunday’s events at AYR Motor Centre in Woodstock. (Jim Dumville photo)
