Lorne Leech to seek council spot in Nov. 28 municipal election
Lorne Leech has announced his candidacy for Woodstock’s Ward 5 in the Nov. 28 municipal election.
The following is Leech’s statement.
“As a lifelong resident of Grafton, I would like to announce my candidacy for Ward 5 in the upcoming municipal election.
“I have been married 31 years to my wife Brenda, who is employed as a sales representative at Jolly Farmer. We have three grown children, who also make New Brunswick their home.
“The cabinetry business has been my livelihood for over 40 years, with the last 20-plus years co-owning Leech Bros. with my brother, Kendall.
“Working around the community over the years, I made numerous friendships and lasting work relationships. My company has been a strong supporter of many local charitable organizations over the years. We see the impact they make within our community.
“I am an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and time at my camp in Kilmarnock. During my youth, I played hockey and baseball within the Woodstock minor league programs. I’ve coached minor league baseball and sat on the board of the Western Valley Minor Baseball Association for multiple years.
“I am currently an active board member of the Woodstock Trailmakers Snowmobile Club and a volunteer groomer operator. In past years, I have also volunteered on Carleton Ground Search and Rescue.
“The future of Woodstock is important to me, and I feel that with proper guidance, we can be a major economic player in both the industry and tourism sectors. To the residents of Ward 5, I will make it my mission to be your voice.
“I would be very humbled and thankful for your vote this November.”
