District of Carleton North hosts end-of-summer bash for community
The inaugural ‘Last Splash of Summer’ celebration was an action-packed afternoon on Aug. 24, giving residents of Carleton North a chance to have one last warm-weather celebration before school starts.
The event included lawn games, a dog parade, an ice cream sundae bar provided by the Florenceville Rotary, face painting provided by TLC Face Painting, and free public swimming.
The Andrew & Laura McCain Library hosted story time and arts and crafts while Science East was on-site with a variety of science activities.
The afternoon’s highlight was a performance by Mr. Mark, a professional musician and children’s entertainer who has worked with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, among others.
The event was a community affair, with district residents and local officials, including District of Carleton North Mayor Andrew Harvey and MLA Margaret Johnson, attending.
