Entrepreneur hopes to expand services to Fredericton
Jay Gevariya brought Bee12 Delivery to New Brunswick in 2023 to combat drinking and driving by offering safe delivery options to customers.
“We want to promote a culture which is safe for the community and for the future generations to come,” said Gevariya.
Beer12 Delivery is an online alcohol shopping experience offering nearly 4,000 drinks ranging from crowd favourites to rare ones for customers.
From Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., and on Sundays until 5 p.m., customers between Woodstock and the District of Carleton North in western New Brunswick can have their order delivered for $10 plus tax. The company will also deliver to Hartland customers for an extra fee, and Gevariya plans to expand to Fredericton soon.
Since launching nearly two years ago, Gevariya has four to five drivers to run orders and says they average 200 monthly orders.
On the website bee12delivery.ca, customers can shop, book a delivery time, and have it delivered by an NB Liquor Serve and Smart Serve-certified runner. Gevariya believes his system allows people to drink responsibly without risking their lives.
A 2024 study by The Traffic Injury Research Foundation says 44.1 per cent of Canadians drove after drinking at home.
“So we started this business just to serve the local residents, or the residents in New Brunswick, and avoid drinking and driving. So, more likely to say no to drinking and driving,” said Gevariya.
Despite the good reviews, Gevariya has had people refuse to support the business. Being in a “Bible Belt” area, drinking, especially when reckless, can be considered frowned upon. However, Gevariya believes his business is helping fight irresponsible drinking.
“There have been a few that I haven’t received a good response regarding to that, but those were right literally outside the liquor store, but they do drink, but they just did not want to support the new business or local business,” said Gevariya.
Gevariya says his business capitalizes on supporting local Canadian businesses over large U.S. corporations to keep money in Canada.
An article in Made in CA says that in 2024, Canada’s online food delivery services generated $18,990.9 million in revenue. Delivery services like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Instacart are popular for their efficiency, but are all U.S.-founded companies.
“In my perception, I believe that rather than waiting for any U.S. company to come and set up their business here and be giving out money to them to provide us the service, let’s just focus on creating a Canadian service and serving our people,” said Gevariya.
Bee12 Delivery doesn’t just teleport alcohol to your door. They will also deliver food orders, medicine, pet food, and groceries for the exact delivery price. There is also an option for corporate gifts.
Moving forward, Gevariya hopes his business will promote safe drinking, especially to the younger generation. Seeing how many younger people are charged with drinking and driving in the area, he wants to urge adolescents to be responsible with alcohol in hopes that fewer charges will be made and fewer accidents will happen.
“We want to promote it to the Woodstock and serve the community with our whole heart,” said Gevariya.
