Nackawic native Lindsay Graham makes it to the Top 10 in Torrid’s Open Casting Call competition

First-time model Lindsay Graham is on her way to becoming a possible contract model for Torrid after placing in the top 10 in the company’s Casting Call contest.

Torrid is a plus-sized clothing chain in the U.S. that recently brought its brand to Canada, opening stores in Dieppe and Saint John, New Brunswick.

“I was screaming, and I cried, and was jumping in the house. I couldn’t even eat anything because I was just so excited,” said Graham when she got the news she made it to the next round and that she’d be travelling to California.

The 22-year-old, who now lives in Fredericton, saw the casting call on social media and decided to enter because she appreciates the company’s inclusive approach to fashion. Graham knew the brand had done a casting call contest in the past and decided to put her “hat in the ring.”

“I really value this company. They’re inclusive and body-positive, and those are things that I really value from them, so I thought maybe this is something maybe I could do,” said Graham.

Graham and the other nine finalists were flown to Los Angeles in mid-August to model for Torrid. The brand pampered the women from the moment they arrived to the second they left. Graham said she was overwhelmed by how caring the Torrid team was and said the experience made her love herself again.

“The experience itself was just so empowering. Being surrounded by people who keep telling you that you’re beautiful and that you can do this, it’s just not something we’re used to a lot at home,” said Graham.

Initially, Graham was very serious about winning the contest, but as time passed, she fell in love with the work and is now considering modelling as a career path.

“I would love to move on with the company. I feel like the whole trip in itself was the prize, and I really gained a lot from it,” said Graham.

Torrid will announce the winner of the Casting Call contest on Sept 4. The winner will sign a modelling contract with Torrid.
