On Wednesday, August 2, crowds gathered to witness a display of hunting excellence in Woodstock.
Maritime Dog Training owner Mathew Willson and the four dogs he trained demonstrated their skill in an exhibition next to the Woodstock Dog Park, near AYR Motor Centre.
The dogs varied in age from six-month-old Ruby to four-year-old Tank.
Wilson put the Labrador retrievers through a series of trials showcasing the dogs’ obedience and retriever abilities developed over time.
“Basic obedience is like the foundation of a house,” said Wilson.
He described obedience as the key in Wednesday’s demonstration and the training he delivers through his business.
Demonstration highlights included two-year-old black lab Memphis retrieving a mock duck following only Wilson’s hand signals. Tank
demonstrated his focus and skill by retrieving a mock duck that Wilson had thought was elsewhere.
