Former mayor Jeff Wright to challenge incumbent Trina Jones
Former Woodstock Mayor Jeff Wright will be on the municipal election ballot on May 11.
The Woodstock businessman, who was mayor from 2004 to 2008, officially registered as a mayoral candidate on Friday, March 27. Incumbent Mayor Trina Jones filed her papers on Monday, March 23.
“There are many reasons I’m running,” said Wright when reached by the River Valley Sun. “The short and sweet of it is I want fair, honest, and open government. I want fiscal responsibility and for the Town of Woodstock to be open for business. I want us to work as a team. We need to work together to do the best we can for Woodstock.”
So far, in Ward 1, Michael Martin (inc.) has offered. Ward 2, Will Belyea (inc.) has put his name in, and in Ward 3, Scott Dunlop is running. In Ward 4, where there are four to elect, the ballot will include John Dolimount, Christa McCartney (inc.), Arthur Slipp, and Norm Brown (inc.).
