New Nackawic subdivision on schedule
The new subdivision, being built in the town of Nackawic, is progressing along as planned and paving the new streets is just around the corner, according to Mayor Tim Fox. He told the council during the July 21 meeting that the work crew will be pouring concrete for the sidewalk and curbing before the end of July, with paving to follow.

Mayor Fox said everything is going as planned. He added that more information on building lots will be made public in the next couple of weeks. He said there will be promotional information about the subdivision on their website soon.
Festival on the Bend
Mayor Tim Fox pointed out the annual Festival on the Bend is just around the corner. Nackawic-Millville’s summer highlight will include the return of many popular events, such as the annual Miss Nackawic-Millville Pageant, Little Miss Pageant, bingo, wrestling, a street parade, vendors, and entertainment in the arena.
New events will also be featured, including a crib tournament and a paint night. On Saturday, the festival will end with a performance on the World’s Biggest Axe by The Martin Boys, who were runners-up on Canada’s Got Talent last season. A fireworks show will light up the sky at dusk. A flyer detailing all the events will be sent out to residents in early August. Festival on the Bend takes place from Aug. 10 to 16.
New Dumfries Fire/Community Hall update
CAO Kathryn Clark told the mayor and council that work has commenced on clearing the property for the new Dumfries Fire and Community Hall, which will be located next to the old fire hall along Route 102. They are just waiting for septic approval, which is required to obtain the building permit.
She said water quality testing was done, and the results were good. Clark said they hope to start the foundation soon.
