Father-daughter team turns passion into business with Timber & Clay
Dana Myshrall and her father, Gary McLeod, had dreamed of opening a business that combines two of their favourite hobbies, axe-throwing and pottery painting. This year, they made that dream a reality.
“The idea for Timber & Clay came from combining two passions, my love for pottery painting and my dad’s interest in axe throwing. We had been talking about the idea for a few years and keeping an eye out for the right space,” said Myshrall.
Myshrall and her father believe it is the perfect time for Timber & Clay to be welcomed to the Woodstock region. The two saw a gap for fun, creative things to do, and they felt people were searching for something to fill that void.
“We know people are looking for new experiences, whether that’s a night out with friends, family time, or even a relaxing solo paint session,” said Myshrall.
Woodstock’s Timber & Clay axe-throwing is open to all levels of experience. Trained staff teach beginners the basics of throws and how to handle the axe safely and confidently.

Their pottery offers a range of ceramics, from mugs to eccentric figures. Timber & Clay offers specialty drinks that customers can enjoy while hitting the bullseye or creating a one-of-a-kind piece.
Since its opening in August, Myshrall says they have received tremendous support from the community. Their long-term goal is to make Timber & Clay a go-to destination for celebrating, gathering, and having fun.
Their family has also been a significant source of support throughout this journey.

“Everyone in our family plays a huge part in helping bring the vision to life, and that support is a big part of what makes this space so special for us,” said Myshrall.
To Myshrall, Timber & Clay is about more than just axes and paint; it’s about having a space for people to come together and make memories.
“We’re excited to keep building on that momentum and creating even more great experiences for everyone who walks through our doors,” said Myshrall.
