Police say there is no immediate threat, but were present as students entered school Monday
Late Sunday, Sept. 20, parents of children at Townsview School in Woodstock were notified in an email by Angela Ketch, Townsview’s Principal, that police would be present at the K-8 school Monday morning, Sept. 21.
“I am writing this evening to share that a threat of violence at our school was reported over the weekend and brought to my attention by the Woodstock Police Force (WPF). Following their intervention, officers from the WPF do not see a risk of danger on Monday,” said Ketch in her email.
WPF Deputy Police Chief Simon Watts said that on Friday, Sept. 18, WPF became aware of concerning comments a student made on Snapchat. They found no immediate threat to the school or students.
However, Watts said the WPF will continue to assess the situation to ensure safety.
“The Woodstock Police Force take all threats, concerning comments, and reports of potential harm involving schools very seriously, and will thoroughly assess and investigate such information to help ensure the safety of students, staff, and the wider school community.”
