Connell Park Raceway hosting five-card afternoon event for harness racing fans
Connell Park in Woodstock will host a five-dash card at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
New Brunswick native Todd Trites is back in the bike on Saturday, with drives in all five races, including the streaking newcomer Press Time in the top class.
Owned by first-time owner Zach Cougle, Press Time will look for his third straight victory, coming off two impressive wins in 1:54.1 and last Saturday in 1:55.1.
Race secretary Brent Briggs has opted to handicap the newcomer with outside post six and is the 7/5 choice on the morning line odds.
Mantario, second to Press Time the last two weeks for owner Jennifer Ritchie of Kingston, N.B., will look for the slight upset from post three.
Watchmaker and veteran Mike Downey, leaving from post two, was sharp on his last outing, winning in 1:57 for Dr. Mitchell Mark Downey. Mitch will drive stablemate One Eight Hundred from post four.
Jeff Lewis will pilot his veteran pacer Emperor from post five, while P J Spudland, with five wins and two seconds in his seven-lifetime starts, gets Colin DeCourcey for Weldon Briggs.
Wagering is available through the HPI platform, and fans can watch it on Universum Media’s YouTube channel or visit their local tele-theatre location. Food will be on the premises this Saturday for fans in attendance in Woodstock.
