Case connected to several investigations in New Brunswick and across Canada

The Western Valley Region RCMP in Woodstock reported the arrest of two people in connection with several thefts in New Brunswick and across Canada.

The RCMP said it arrested a 53-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both of no fixed address.

In a media release, the RCMP said it had investigated several thefts across the Western Valley Region of the province in which the same man and woman were the primary persons of interest. However, the release added that police were unable to identify them.

“On July 22, 2024, police received information from a member of the public in relation to these individuals and were able to attend and arrest the two of them without incident,” the RCMP statement explained. “Police have since learned that the man and woman are persons of interest in numerous thefts in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.”

The individuals advertised items for sale online via Facebook Marketplace and Amazon. Once an interested buyer was identified, the two made a list of items and proceeded to steal them from different businesses.

They would then immediately ship the items to the buyer.

The RCMP said that police are actively working to determine if there were other victims.

They ask anyone who may have been a victim of a similar occurrence or has information which may help the investigation to contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-325-3000.

The public can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
