Investigation continues into ‘targeted’ attack

The Western Valley RCMP is investigating the assault of a man in the parking lot of the Upper River Valley Hospital.

Sgt. James Gallant of the Woodstock detachment said the incident happened during the early morning hours of Sept. 12.

“We can’t say much, except that the incident is under investigation,” said Gallant.

Gallant wouldn’t say if more than one person was involved in the attack, but he did state there is no danger to the public.

“I will say this is an isolated incident,” he said when reached by the River Valley Sun.

When asked if it was a targeted incident, where the people involved knew each other, Gallant said the case is still under investigation, but that it “seems that way.”

If you have any information about the incident, you can contact the Western Valley Region Detachment at 506-325-3000. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or submitting a secure web tip at www.crimenb.ca.
