Police issued early morning Emergency Alert but now say initial search for man of interest now over

The New Brunswick RCMP confirms that one person is dead following a home invasion in Berry Mills, near Moncton.

On Feb. 6, at approximately 5:51 a.m., members of the Caledonia Region RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion at an Isaiah Street residence in Berry Mills, near Moncton.

Three individuals forcibly gained entry to the residence occupied by a man and a woman, both in their thirties. An altercation occurred, resulting in the fatality of an unidentified man. When police arrived, two suspects fled in a black 2018 Dodge Ram 2500.

An Emergency Alert was issued in connection with the incident at approximately 7:30 a.m. Upon further investigation, a light-coloured Ford F150 was also believed to have been involved in the home invasion. Police later shared that they thought the men may have been in the Fredericton area and on their way to Edmundston.

Police continue searching for the two pickup trucks; however, the individual initially named in the Alert Ready is no longer considered a suspect.

Police have reason to believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no longer a risk to the general public. The Alert Ready has since concluded.

“We are looking to speak with anyone who was travelling in the Berry Mills area during the early morning hours of February 6, 2025,” said Cpl. Hans Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP. “If you have dash-cam or other video footage from the area at the time of the incident, please call the police.”

If you have information about this investigation or see one of the trucks involved, please contact the New Brunswick RCMP at 911.
