Perth-Andover woman to appear in Edmundston and Woodstock courtrooms later this month
A 34-year-old woman from Perth-Andover, N.B., has been arrested and charged in connection with several thefts from businesses in the Plaster Rock and Perth-Andover regions.
On October 23, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP received a report of broken glass at a business on W Riverside Drive in Perth-Andover. When police arrived at the scene, they determined that the business had been broken into, and a 2020 Ford F-150 had been stolen. A short time later, the truck was spotted on a nearby trail. Police attended and, with the assistance of some members of the public, attempted to stop the truck, but it failed to stop and fled the scene.
Later the same day, the truck was located abandoned on Lerwick Road with severe damage. Police were able to identify and arrest a 34-year-old woman from Perth-Andover, who is known to police, as a person of interest in connection with the investigation.
On October 27, Kristen Hamilton-Smith appeared in Edmundston Provincial Court and was charged with theft in connection with a theft from a gas station in Perth-Andover.
On October 28, Kristen Hamilton-Smith appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court. She was charged with two counts of theft in connection with incidents involving the theft of goods from a grocery store in Plaster-Rock and a business in Perth-Andover.
On October 29, police arrested a second person, a 35-year-old man, in connection with the investigation. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in January 2026.
On October 30, the following additional charges were laid against Kristen Hamilton-Smith in Woodstock Provincial Court:
-Two counts of mischief
-Break and enter with intent
-Flight from police
-Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
She was later released from custody and is scheduled to return to Edmundston Provincial Court on November 18 and to Woodstock Provincial Court on November 25.
The investigation is ongoing.
