Police asking for public’s help to locate man facing several charges, including domestic assault with a weapon

The Western Valley Region RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a 28-year-old man wanted on a warrant of arrest.

A media release issued July 19 explained that 28-year-old Austin Caplin-Aubin from Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation, N.B.) is wanted on a warrant of arrest concerning charges related to domestic assault with a weapon, assault, resisting arrest, and failing to attend court.

The RCMP explained officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in the community at approximately 3 p.m. on July 19, 2024. Police said the driver, identified as Caplin-Aubin, fled the area.

Police did not pursue the vehicle. Shortly after, they located the abandoned at a nearby residence. Police believe that Caplin-Aubin has fled the scene on foot.

The RCMP described Caplin-Aubin as 5’ 9” (174 centimetres) tall, weighing approximately 190 lbs (86 kilograms), with black hair and brown eyes.

“He is well known to police and is considered violent,” the RCMP said in its statement.

They asked that anyone who sees Caplin-Aubin not to approach him but call 911 immediately.

Police also ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-325-3000. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or using Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
