Woodstock fundraiser inches toward $100,000 mark as donations reach new highs
On Sept. 4, Woodstock Ribfest organizers excitedly announced the final tally for their June event at Connell Park Raceway.
This was the ninth year for Ribfest.
The grand total for this year’s fundraiser reached a whopping $92,500.
“We want to thank all of our sponsors, entertainers, vendors, volunteers, and attendees for making this our biggest fundraising year yet,” noted a Facebook post on the Woodstock NB Ribfest page.
The ninth annual food and entertainment weekend resulted in some significant donations to deserving organizations.
The River Valley Cancer Support Group was awarded $55,500. The John T. McMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation received $27,000, and the Mama Bear Cancer Fund and the Southern Victoria Cancer Assistance Fund each were awarded $5,000.
Every June, Ribfest takes over the Connell Park Raceway infield, hosting two or more ‘ribbers.’ This year saw Mississippi Smokehouse and Fatboys.
There were 12 different individuals or groups providing entertainment, and other vendors from around the region offering different food choices.
A 50/50 draw was also offered, and Aaron Young took home $1,492.50.
Donations were accepted at the gate, and people were more than generous.
Hats off to the group of dedicated and tireless volunteers who made this happen.
