MacLeod Riverside Court’s Carolyn Brown is wondering how it’s already fall?!
As I look out and discover where we are at this time of year, I realize there is definitely an element of truth in the old saying,” Time goes faster the older we get.” Mind you, this comes from a person who can often be heard saying,” Age is just a number in your head.” Yet, somehow, things still creep up on us.
This month, I wanted to include a couple of photos of our newly opened Memory Care Unit, where we welcomed new residents in July.
The 18 private spaces offer 24/7 care and assistance for those with Alzheimer’s, dementia or other mental impairments which affect their daily living and engagement with friends and family. This safe and secure environment offers families peace of mind and affords a bright and compassionate home for your loved ones. Our hearts and doors are open to welcome those in need, and we are so pleased “the big yellow house” is serving another need in our community. Staff can easily provide the contact numbers and direct families on how to initiate the process for an assessment through Social Development. The process is not usually lengthy, barring any unusual circumstances.
A shout of thanks to the Maintenance and Housekeeping staff in particular as we experienced nine move-ins on the private side of our home, which was over and above the move-ins to our Level 2 and Memory Care units, and we have three more moves coming up, so far, in October. These moves cause extra work for those departments, particularly getting everything ready and cleaned. We appreciate every one of our staff who have been working hard to ensure each move goes smoothly.
Take a look at the pictures of our newly renovated unit. Until next time, I wish you all the perfect ‘fall experience’ in these colourful months.
