Rotary’s new lottery promises big jackpots, bigger community support

New Brunswick’s first online Chase the Ace draw will kick off Nov. 11, raising money for charitable projects across the province

New Brunswick Rotary Clubs are joining forces to bring the popular Chase the Ace progressive lottery game to your computer, tablet or phone – the first online Chase the Ace in the province.

Rotary New Brunswick Chase the Ace was created by the Sunrise Rotary Club in Fredericton, with 11 other Rotary Clubs participating in the online charity lottery. Ric Cuthbertson, Sunrise Rotary Club member and Chase the Ace organizer, said Rotarians hope the lottery will help many local, regional and international community service projects.

“We’re excited to offer New Brunswickers a chance to have fun and an opportunity to win, while helping support worthwhile programs and projects throughout New Brunswick. Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’ and Rotarians are eager to assist seniors, help young people and fund worthwhile community programs,” Cuthbertson said.

Playing Rotary New Brunswick Chase the Ace is simple. The game is available online at https://rotarynb.tlffs.ca/ or on Rotary New Brunswick Chase the Ace on Facebook, with the website scheduled to launch on Nov. 2. Tickets start at $5 each, with price reductions for multiple purchases. Players choose a local club from the drop-down menu to support. Once players purchase a ticket, they choose an envelope from the deck of cards. If a player’s ticket is chosen, they win the weekly jackpot. If their envelope contains the Ace of Spades, the progressive jackpot is awarded – a minimum of $5,000. The progressive jackpot grows until the Ace of Spades is revealed.

Chase the Ace jackpots can grow quickly. Canada’s largest-known Chase the Ace jackpot was more than $8.2 million awarded in New Brunswick in 2024, with the organizers donating millions to recreation, community groups and regional healthcare.

“Chase the Ace games are extremely popular, and when they run their course they raise a significant amount of money. But the in-person Chase the Ace draws are challenging, requiring winners to be present or on a streaming platform and organizers trying to keep thousands of tickets organized in a kid’s swimming pool. The province has seen the merits to do this online. Once the province amended the regulations to allow online Chase the Ace draws, we jumped at the chance,” Cuthbertson said.

TFL Fundraising Solutions, a New Brunswick-based company that operates online lotteries for Canadian charities, will operate the Rotary game. The software is GLI (Gaming Laboratories International) certified. A dedicated computer will conduct the draw to ensure the lottery is run fairly. At the same time, a PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant payment service provider will safeguard customer transactions.

Every player who purchased a ticket will receive an email with the winning number, and winners will receive an email with a special code to claim their prize. Depending on the prize amount, winners will be paid by cheque or via direct deposit to their bank accounts.

Cuthbertson said the provincial lottery license requires that profits be used for charitable projects, and Rotarians involved in the project are excited to raise money for worthwhile causes.

“It’s amazing to see so many clubs jumping on board. By working together, every club can donate to their favourite causes. We are hopeful that New Brunswickers will support our efforts, have fun playing Chase the Ace and maybe win a big jackpot,” he said.

The Rotary New Brunswick Chase the Ace draw will be held every Wednesday evening at 7:50 p.m. starting Nov. 11. The draw will be broadcast live on Facebook on the Rotary Bingo Woodstock NB page just before the club’s popular Bingo games.
