RCMP confirm the 29-year-old was located deceased
The search in the Grafton area for a missing 29-year-old Millville man came to a tragic end on Thursday, Nov. 28.
Family and friends reported Brandon Pickel missing on Nov. 25. The RCMP issued a release the following day asking for the public’s help in locating the man, noting he was last seen on Nov. 25 at approximately 1 a.m., near the intersection of Route 105 and the Grafton bridge in Grafton.
The RCMP release on Nov. 29 confirmed the bad news.
“The 29-year-old man from Millville, N.B., who was reported missing to police on November 25, 2024, has been located deceased,” the release stated. “Police continue to investigate how the man died and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause.”
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family, friends, and community at this time,” the RCMP added.
Sgt. James Gallant of the West District RCMP’s Western Valley Detachment said that is all the information the RCMP will release at this time.
Tributes to Pickel and condolences to his family and friends have flooded social media from the time of his disappearance.
One post thanked everyone involved in the search efforts, including the search and rescue team.
“We are heartbroken to inform everyone that he is no longer with us,” said the post on Nov. 28.
