Current deputy mayor and former MLA running for council-at-large seat

Hartland Deputy Mayor and former Carleton MLA Stewart Fairgrieve announced plans to run for one of the three at-large council seats in the upcoming November municipal election.

Fairgrieve, a Hartland resident for 50 years, was elected to council in May 2021 and served as MLA from 2015 to 2020.

Fairgrieve and his wife Necedah (nee Shaw) are proud parents of three adult children living and working in New Brunswick; Stewart, Andrew (Molly Gallivan) and Abigail (Corey Lawrence), and loving grandparents of Owen and Maggie Grace.

He announced his plans in the following statement.
“I want to sincerely thank the residents who voted to have me as their representative on the current Hartland council. I have been humbled by the support shown to me. I look forward to continuing to serve the people in my Hartland ward to the end of the term for which I was elected.

“Helping people get ahead and have a better life has been the underlying motivation during my time in politics. My experience of working on behalf of local residents has been rewarding, and I plan to continue to do so going forward, only now for the same residents I worked with provincially as Carleton MLA. My focus will be to ensure residents of LSDs are properly represented.

“I have been honoured to serve the community where I raised my family, representing Carleton County interests in Fredericton and Ottawa over the past two decades.

“My focus has always been on delivering results in Hartland and surrounding communities, and I am proud of our record of accomplishment, including the new Central Carleton Community complex. Politics is about people, and it is a privilege serving the people in our area.”
