Harley Street, Hayden Court, Scott Street, Sherwood Drive, and parts of Connell Street part of boil water notice

On Thursday, April 18, the Town of Woodstock issued a boil water notice and advised residents of traffic interruptions.

A boil water advisory has been issued for Harley Street, Hayden Court, Scott Street, Sherwood Drive, and Connell Street between civic numbers 241 and 249.

Beginning mid-morning, residents will experience lower-than-normal or no water pressure and turbid water once pressure is restored. The town will flush the water mains. If dirty water is experienced in your residence, it is recommended to flush a cold water non-screened tap, such as a bathtub, for 20 minutes.

Residents can also expect traffic delays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 18 between St. James Street and Connell Park Road. The traffic delays are due to construction in the area as the town upgrades the water system in the area.

For those under the boil water advisory, please boil all water destined for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, making ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking, and dental hygiene at a rolling boil for one minute.

Water can be boiled in a pot or kettle on a stove, in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off or in a microwave oven. If water is boiled in a microwave, it is advisable to include a wooden or plastic stir stick in the container to diffuse the formation of superheated water.

Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing it. Toddlers and infants should be sponged bathed, and caregivers need to ensure no water is drunk or swallowed. Dishes and laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine.

It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes.
