Harness Racing returns to Woodstock on July 28
By Scott Wadell, Harness NB reporter
Five dashes have been assembled for this Friday night’s racing card at Connell Park in Woodstock, including the running of Canada’s oldest invitational, the Walter Dale Memorial, for $8,000.
Post time for the first of five dashes is scheduled to go at 6:30 p.m. There will be onsite food services available.
Horse Racing New Brunswick and the race secretary were able to muster up a solid group of pacers that will battle it out for the prize money.
Jeff Lewis will harness up and drive his pride and joy, Emperor, while enjoying the inside post advantage from the rail spot.
Stash It Away graciously made the trip to Woodstock for trainer Kevin MacLean. He’s battled some of the best in the Maritimes, including the free-for-all phenom Roll Em.
Pick A Genre, from the stable of Dr. Mitch Downey and trainer Ellen Stevenson, a reasonably new acquisition to the Maritimes, will have Mike Downey driving from post-three.
Mantario, who competed in the Governor’s Plate elimination and consolidation, will leave from post four in the five-horse group. He’s another arrival from Prince Edward Island from the Jennifer Doyle stable.
Finally, Therealprincess will return to New Brunswick as the second entry from the Ellen Stevenson trained contingent. She will have the services this week of New Brunswick native Dale Spence and will leave post five.
Harness N.B. thanks everyone involved in getting the card together.
