Over 8 hectares of woodland burned over two days
The Lakeland Ridges wildfire, first reported around 3 p.m. on Sept. 23, initially burned a couple of hectares but grew throughout Thursday as crews worked to stop it from spreading. By Friday morning, the blaze had consumed 8.4 hectares near Pemberton Ridge, close to Forest City.
Initially, the fire was categorized as ‘out of control,’ according to the Department of Natural Resources Wildfire Dashboard. By Friday morning, the provincial dashboard listed the fire as ‘contained.’
The Department of Natural Resources could not provide additional information, such as which fire crews helped tame the fire, what equipment was involved, or whether any structures were in danger.
