Accident with passenger vehicle results in hours-long closure of Highway 401
A Woodstock, New Brunswick, transport truck driver is facing a charge of careless driving after a collision with a passenger vehicle in Brighton, Ontario.
A press release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said members of their Northumberland Detachment are investigating a collision that resulted in westbound lane closures of Highway 401.
On Nov. 9, shortly before 5:30 a.m. ET, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the OPP responded to a report of a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.
Police arrived on the scene where a tractor-trailer was on its side with its debris and cargo strewn across traffic lanes, both shoulders, and into the north ditch.
The truck’s driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
A 56-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Woodstock, New Brunswick, has been charged with careless driving.
Westbound lanes were closed in the area, with an emergency detour route in place until around 2 p.m. ET, when the highway was reopened following the cleanup and removal of vehicles.
