Broadway apartment searched as part of Woodstock IEU drug investigation

The Woodstock Police Force arrested two people and seized a significant amount of drugs related to an investigation conducted by the Woodstock Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU).

Deputy Chief Mark Bennett explained in a media release issued on Aug. 14 that the IEU, comprised of members from the WPF, RCMP and Department of Justice and Public Safety, arrested two individuals on Aug. 8 on drug trafficking charges.

In connection with the arrests, police executed search warrants on Aug. 9 for an apartment on Broadway in Woodstock.

As part of the arrest, Bennett said police seized three and a half pounds of cannabis from a vehicle in Woodstock.

The search resulted in the seizure of three-quarter pounds of cannabis, 37.5 grams of cocaine, hydromorphone and psilocybin capsules, two prohibited knives, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $700 in Canadian currency.

Bennett said police released one of the arrested individuals, a 34-year-old female, on conditions with an upcoming court appearance. The other individual was released without conditions.

The Woodstock IEU was assisted in this investigation by the Fredericton IEU, RCMP West District K-9, as well as the Woodstock Police Force Street Crime Unit and patrol officers.

The media release stressed that the public plays an essential role in helping to reduce, prevent, and solve crime.

Police encourage anyone with information about the illegal possession or trafficking of drugs in the community to contact the Woodstock Police Force at 1-506-325-4601.
