Theft and fraud charges
Sherry Lynn Williams, 61, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 to answer six charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
Williams is charged with three counts of theft and three counts of fraud stemming from three separate incidents in Woodstock between Feb. 19, 2019, and June 7, 2019; between March 6, 2019, and April 22, 2019; and between Jan. 13, 2017, and June 5, 2019.
The alleged victims are special needs adults.
Arrested on the weekend
Kristen Hamilton Smith, 34, of Carlingford, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 28 after being arrested on the weekend.
She was charged with possession of a stolen truck on June 27 in Canterbury and will return to court for plea on Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
The court heard she was remanded to jail on other separate matters.
Sentencing in Fredericton
Matthew William Harris, 46, of Meductic, will appear in provincial court in Fredericton on Nov. 4 for sentencing on a drug trafficking charge. The Crown is recommending a prison term of three to five years.
Harris and co-accused Robert Louis Michaud, 54, formerly of Grand Falls, and Adrienne Susan Dickison, 34, of Dow Settlement, were charged after an incident at the Fredericton International Airport on Nov. 23, 2023.
Michaud and Dickison were each sentenced to two years in federal prison. Dickison was sentenced in Fredericton on Oct. 22. Michaud appeared in court in Woodstock, in custody via video, on Oct. 28, and told the court he had been in prison in Nova Scotia for 50 days.
He was also charged with breach of a release order by failing to report to police between May 10 and June 8, 2024, and driving while suspended on June 4 in Woodstock. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m.
Harris appeared in provincial court in Woodstock on Oct. 21 to answer two other charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
He was charged with assault by choking involving a female victim and committing mischief causing property damage following an incident on Sept. 2 in Meductic. He was released on an undertaking until his next court date.
Returning for plea
Zacheriah Warman, 25, of Shediac, will appear in provincial court on Dec. 9 at 9:30 a.m. to answer a charge laid in Woodstock.
Warman was charged with transmitting an intimate image without consent for an incident on July 6, 2024. He made his first court appearance on Oct. 28 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Sentencing adjourned to January
Trevor Lee Crain, 49, of Killoween, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 for sentencing on several charges laid by the RCMP. The sentencing was adjourned until his trial on other matters on Jan. 7, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Crain was denied bail and spent five months in remand before being released from custody in August to await sentencing after changing his plea.
He pleaded guilty to one count of breaching his release order (house arrest), concerning three incidents between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7 at Beechwood.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and breach of a release order in connection with an incident on July 1, 2024, at Killoween. The Crown withdrew another charge of resisting arrest.
Crain also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen dirt bike on May 25, 2024, and guilty to breaching his release order by failing to appear in court on July 11, 2023.
He pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering a dwelling house and breaching an undertaking on June 15, 2023, at Moose Mountain, and committing an assault involving a female victim on June 11, 2023, at Killoween. His trial date on those charges was set for Jan. 7, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Crain has one more trial date set for Dec. 31 at 9:30 a.m. He pleaded not guilty to breaking into a residence and committing sexual assault for an incident between May 1, 2023, and May 23, 2023, at Moose Mountain.
Closing arguments after trial
Johnny Lee Bloodsworth, 39, of Arthurette, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 27 for the conclusion of his trial on multiple sex charges. Closing arguments will take place on Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The allegations involve two complainants.
RCMP charged Bloodsworth with four counts of sexual assault and eight counts of touching a female minor for a sexual purpose in connection with incidents between July 10, 2023 and Sept. 4, 2023. He pleaded not guilty.
Bloodsworth also pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, two counts of touching a female minor for a sexual purpose, and uttering threats in connection with an incident between April 1, 2023 and Sept. 1, 2023.
Bloodsworth appeared in provincial court in custody via video on June 25, 2024, for a bail hearing and was released on conditions. He was ordered to follow a curfew and reside at a residence in Grand Falls.
He also appeared in provincial court on July 8 and pleaded not guilty to a charge of breaching his release order. His trial was set for July 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
The RCMP charged Bloodsworth in connection with an incident between Jan. 31 and May 30 in Arthurette. He was arrested and released on conditions.
In custody awaiting plea
Austin Soucy Barrett, 26, of Keswick Ridge, will appear in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m. to answer charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was remanded to jail on Oct. 9 to await his plea.
Barrett was charged with two counts of mischief, causing property damage to two vehicles, theft of tools, break and enter and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with an incident in Woodstock on Oct. 2. The court heard he was facing more charges in Fredericton, including breach of a release order.
Barrett appeared in court in custody by video on Oct. 2 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions, including house arrest and a curfew.
RCMP also charged him with breaking into the Valley Chainsaw Shop in Jacksonville on Sept. 16. He returns to court in custody for plea on that charge on Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m.
In custody awaiting sentence
Tanna Wright, 27, of Perth-Andover, will appear for sentencing in provincial court in custody on Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m. on five charges laid by the RCMP.
Wright pleaded guilty to breaching a no-contact order concerning an incident on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 at Weaver. The Crown withdrew several other charges.
She also pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon (knives and a bat) and two counts of uttering threats on Dec. 16, 2023, in Greenfield, and guilty to theft of a wallet for a separate incident on June 19, 2024, in Perth-Andover.
Wright appeared in provincial court in custody by video on July 28 for a bail hearing. She was released with conditions to a rehab facility in Tracey Mills with an ankle bracelet and under full house arrest. However, she later returned to custody.
Awaiting plea for assault
Katlyn Levesque, 30, of Plaster Rock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 to answer an assault charge. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m. to allow her more time to secure legal counsel.
Levesque was charged with assault involving a male victim in connection with an incident on March 9 at Plaster Rock.
Not-guilty plea
Jacob Jinson, 26, of Somerville, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 and pleaded not guilty to three charges laid by the RCMP. His trial date was set for Dec. 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Jinson was charged with uttering threats on April 10, 2024, in Somerville, breaching his curfew on April 20, 2024, and failing to appear in court on Aug. 6, 2024. The court heard that a resolution is being sought with the Crown. A monitoring date was set for Jan. 6, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
New sentencing date
Melissa Dawn Bull, 43, of Richmond Corner, will appear in provincial court for sentencing on Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m. after pleading guilty to two charges related to the theft of mail.
Bull was charged by the RCMP with theft of mail (two envelopes) and defrauding Canada Post (gift cards), stemming from an incident on Aug. 16-17, 2024, in Woodstock.
Her sentencing date was scheduled for November but was adjourned to the new date at the request of her defence counsel on Oct. 28.
Trial on weapons charge
Ryan Michael Fitzherbert, 29, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 to answer a weapons charge. He pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was booked for Nov. 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Fitzherbert was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence for an incident in Woodstock. He made his first court appearance on Oct. 7 when the matter was adjourned until Tuesday.
Facing six charges
Joshua Alexander Russell, 36, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 for plea on six charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
Russell appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Sept. 26 for a bail hearing. He was released on conditions, including the requirement to wear an ankle electronic monitoring device.
He was charged with two counts of breaking into a dwelling house, breach of an emergency intervention order, mischief causing property damage to a vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended in connection with an incident on Sept. 21 in Woodstock.
Adjourned for plea
Chandler Spittle, 22, of Perth-Andover, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 to answer counterfeiting charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.
Spittle was charged with possession of counterfeit money (a $100 US bill) and using counterfeit money concerning an incident on Dec. 24, 2023, at Johnson Settlement. He appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on Aug. 22 after being arrested on a warrant for failing to attend court and was released with conditions.
Sentence pending on multiple charges
James Blair Hovey, 28, of Perth Andover, will appear in provincial court in custody for his sentencing on Dec. 15 at 1:30 p.m. after changing his plea to guilty on multiple charges laid by the RCMP.
On Oct. 28, Hovey appeared in custody by video and pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle on Aug. 20, 2024, a charge transferred from Miramichi.
He also pleaded guilty to assaulting another man and theft of keys on Nov. 27, 2024, in New Denmark. Another charge of theft of tools was withdrawn.
In addition, he pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen ATV, breach of probation and flight from police on March 30, 2024, at Tobique Narrows; guilty to taking a vehicle without consent and breaching his curfew on Oct. 25, 2024, at Perth Andover; guilty to flight from police, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and breaching his curfew on Nov. 27, 2024, at Plaster Rock; and guilty to possession of a stolen vehicle and breach of probation on Jan. 9 at Carlingford. Two other charges were withdrawn.
The court heard the Crown would be seeking a one-year jail sentence for all counts. Hovey has been in custody since his arrest in January, and a sentence of time served is expected.
Hovey was also charged by Woodstock Police with breach of probation and break, enter and theft at a dwelling house on Creighton Street on Sept. 26, 2024.
Facing assault charge
Adam Grant Saunders, 29, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on an assault charge.
Woodstock Police charged Saunders in connection with an incident on June 6 in Woodstock. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Oct. 28 when Defence Counsel Peter Crocco appeared on his behalf.
Beechwood woman to enter plea
Courtney Demerchant, 28, of Beechwood, will appear in provincial court on Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. to answer charges laid by Woodstock Police. She was scheduled for a plea on Oct. 28, but the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Demerchant was charged with assaulting a male victim in connection with an incident on Feb. 15 in Woodstock.
She will also appear for trial in provincial court on July 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two other assault charges laid by the RCMP.
Demerchant was charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm concerning an incident on Nov. 5, 2024, in Beechwood.
Plea on four charges
Natasha Ginson, 35, of Mainstream, will appear in provincial court on Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on four charges laid by the RCMP.
Ginson was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, uttering threats and possession of a stolen ATV stemming from an incident on May 18 at Riverbank.
She appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 when the matter was adjourned to the new date at the request of her defence counsel.
No contact with the complainant
Casey Bernard, 27, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), will appear in provincial court on Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a threat charge.
RCMP charged Bernard with uttering threats against a female victim in connection with an incident on July 26 at Neqotkuk.
He appeared in court on Oct. 28 when the matter was adjourned to the new date. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant.
Awaiting trial on five charges
Shelby Paul, 28, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), appeared in provincial court on Oct. 28 for a monitoring hearing about her trial on charges laid by the RCMP. Her trial date of Oct. 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. was confirmed by her defence counsel.
Paul appeared in provincial court in custody on May 28 and was released with conditions. She pleaded not guilty to five charges, including assaulting another woman and breach of probation on Jan. 29 at Neqotkuk; assault with a weapon (a phone) and breach of probation on Jan. 19 at Neqotkuk; and breach of an undertaking (no-contact) on Sept. 15 at Neqotkuk.
Neqotkuk man to enter plea
Brock Vollmar, 48, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), will appear in provincial court on Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m. for a plea on charges laid by the RCMP. The matter was scheduled for Oct. 28 but was adjourned to the new date at his lawyer’s request.
Vollmar was charged by the RCMP with unlawful confinement, assault involving a female victim, and uttering threats for an incident on July 9 at Neqotkuk. He is also facing a theft charge in connection with an incident at the Ultramar in Carlingford.
He appeared in provincial court in custody for a bail hearing on July 14 and was released with conditions. The Crown withdrew another fraud charge on Oct. 28.
Charged with trafficking, assault
Michelle Augustine of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) will appear in provincial court on Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. for a plea on an assault charge laid by the RCMP.
Augustine was scheduled to enter a plea on Oct. 28 when the matter was adjourned at the request of her defence counsel. She failed to appear, so a warrant was held on file.
She was charged with assaulting another woman with a weapon (a stick) on April 29, 2025, at Neqotkuk.
Augustine was also charged by the RCMP with trafficking in cocaine in connection with an incident on Aug. 30, 2024, at Neqotkuk. The charge stemmed from an undercover police investigation in the community. She pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was set for Sept. 3-4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
