Five more months in jail for breaching parole
Ryan Eccleston, 34, of Plaster Rock, was sentenced to five months in jail when he appeared in provincial court in custody on May 14. The jail time will be served consecutively to his current federal prison sentence.
Eccleston pleaded guilty to being unlawfully at large on a release order on March 29, 2024, in relation to a breach of his parole. The court heard he was released from federal prison on Jan. 11 and went on the lam.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued, and he was arrested by the RCMP two months later at a residence in Plaster Rock, where he was found hiding under a mattress.
Eccleston was also charged with flight from police and dangerous driving on March 17, 2024, in Perth-Andover. The crown withdrew those two charges at his sentencing hearing.
Eccleston told the court he was currently serving three years and seven months in a federal penitentiary. Before his parole violation, that prison term was scheduled to expire in July 2025.
Sentencing set after guilty plea
Gary Frederick Kilcollins, 48, of Woodstock, appeared for trial in provincial court in custody on May 14 and changed his plea to guilty on all charges laid against him by Woodstock Police. His sentencing date was set for June 11 at 9:30 a.m.
Kilcollins was charged with breaching his release order in connection with an incident on March 13 in Woodstock, break and enter at a dwelling house, theft of a TV, and breach of probation for an incident between April 8 and April 16, 2024, in Woodstock, and driving while suspended on Dec. 7, 2023.
He was also charged with theft from the Woodstock Superstore on March 24, 2024, and theft from the Vie Thrift Boutique on April 13, 2024. A mischief charge was also laid for an incident on Jan.2, 2024, when a window was broken at another property in town. He was also charged with breach of probation and theft from Home Hardware in Woodstock on Jan. 15, 2024.
Kilcollins appeared in court in custody on April 24 and waived his bail.
Back in custody
Gabriel Blake VanHorne, 24, of Hartley Settlement, appeared in provincial court in custody on May 16 and was remanded to jail. He returns to court in custody by video for a bail hearing on May 20 at 1:30 p.m.
VanHorne was charged by the RCMP with breaching a no-contact order.
On April 24, he appeared in provincial court in custody by video for a bail hearing. He was released with conditions, including the requirement to wear an electronic monitoring device attached to his ankle. He also posted a $1,000 bail bond.
He was charged by the RCMP with assault involving a female victim, committing mischief and breach of an undertaking for an incident on April 19 at Hartley Settlement.
On May 13, he appeared in court and pleaded not guilty. His trial was set for May 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
He also appeared in provincial court on March 25 and pleaded not guilty to a separate assault charge. His trial date was scheduled for April 2, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
RCMP charged him with assaulting a female victim stemming from an incident on Jan. 29 at Hartley Settlement. He was released on an undertaking until his trial and ordered to have no contact with the complainant. VanHorne has a dated prior criminal record.
Trial adjourned to August
Nathan Aaron Sewell, 36, of Wilmot, appeared for trial in provincial court on May 15 after pleading not guilty to drug and stolen property charges laid by RCMP. Following a half-day of testimony, the trial was adjourned until Aug. 18-19.
Sewell was charged by RCMP with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine, both for the purpose of trafficking, and three counts of possession of stolen property (an ID card, registration and mail) concerning an incident on Feb. 15, 2024, at Bairdsville.
As the trial began, the crown withdrew one trafficking charge for the methamphetamine and one count of possession of stolen mail.
Early evidence presented by the crown revealed that a truck was stolen from a gas station in Saint Andre around 5:30 a.m. The driver left the truck running and went inside the premises. When he returned to the parking area, his truck was gone with his wallet inside. The truck was later spotted at a residence in Bairdsville.
Conditional discharge
Dana Allison MacKay, 42, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on May 14 for sentencing after pleading guilty to a mischief charge. He received a conditional discharge and 12 months of probation. He was also ordered to pay $791 in restitution and must complete 40 hours of community service work.
Woodstock Police charged MacKay with committing mischief, causing property damage to two windows concerning a domestic incident at a residence in Woodstock during the early morning hours of Dec. 21, 2024. He had no prior criminal record.
Remanded for plea
Jason Norman Dumont, 40, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court in custody for plea on May 29 at 9:30 a.m. on six charges laid by RCMP.
Dumont was charged with three counts of uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, and breach of a peace bond. He was charged in connection with a series of incidents between March 17 and May 4 in Woodstock, between July 1-5, 2023, in Mount Pleasant, and on Oct. 24, 2015, in Mount Pleasant.
He appeared in provincial court in custody for a bail hearing on May 12 and was remanded to jail.
Awaiting plea on sex charges
Chad Brooker, 36, of Centreville, appeared in provincial court on May 13 to answer three sex charges laid by RCMP. The matter was adjourned for plea until June 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.
Brooker was charged with sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose and invitation to sexual touching in connection with an incident between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31, 2024, at Centreville.
Charged with robbery
Chad Clark, 47, of Mount Pleasant, will appear in provincial court on June 10 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a robbery charge laid by RCMP.
Clark was charged with robbery with violence in connection with the theft of a vehicle on Feb. 5 at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation). He first appeared in court on May 13 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Awaiting trial date
Brandon Williamson, 29, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, appeared in provincial court on May 13 to answer an assault charge. He pleaded not guilty. His trial date will be set at his next court appearance on June 10 at 9:30 a.m.
RCMP charged Williamson with assault involving a female victim, stemming from an incident on March 5 at Plaster Rock.
Facing threat charge
Jordan Alexander White-Pickard, 27, of Holmesville, will appear in provincial court on June 10 at 9:30 a.m. to answer a threat charge laid by Woodstock Police.
White-Pickard was charged with uttering threats following an incident on Aug. 3, 2024, in Woodstock. He made his first court appearance on May 13 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Caught for impaired
Stephen Brent Lunn, 65, of Riceville, will appear in provincial court on June 10 at 9:30 a.m. to set a date for his trial after pleading not guilty to impaired driving.
Woodstock Police charged Lunn concerning an incident in Woodstock on Sept. 21, 2024. He pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance on May 13. The matter was adjourned to allow him time to secure legal counsel.
Released on undertaking
Margaret King, 59, of Kilburn, will appear for trial in provincial court on May 13, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two charges laid by RCMP.
King was charged with assault with a weapon (a broken hot plate) and assault causing bodily harm to a male victim following an incident on Feb. 12 at Kilburn. She pleaded not guilty at her first court appearance on May 13. A monitoring date was also set for Nov. 4 at 9:30 a.m. She was released on an undertaking until her trial.
Not guilty to impaired driving
David Logue, 31, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), will appear for trial in provincial court on June 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to impaired driving.
Woodstock Police charged Logue concerning an incident in Woodstock on Sept. 20, 2024. He entered his not-guilty plea at his first court appearance on May 13.
Returning for plea
Sheena Ross, 37, of Richmond Settlement, will appear in provincial court on June 10 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on three charges laid by RCMP.
Ross was charged with assaulting another woman, uttering threats, and committing mischief concerning an incident on Feb. 11 at Perth-Andover. She made her first court appearance on May 13 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.
Woodstock man awaits bail hearing
Allan Charles McLaughlin, 63, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on May 15 for a bail hearing on weapons charges related to a domestic dispute. His bail hearing was adjourned until May 29 at 1:30 p.m. to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.
McLaughlin was charged by Woodstock Police with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (a nine-millimetre handgun), pointing a firearm at a female victim, assault with a weapon (a handgun), and careless use of a firearm in connection with an incident on April 13 in Woodstock. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainants. He was also charged with breaching a no-contact order on April 15 in Canterbury.
Woodstock Police attended a residence on April 13 to answer a call about a domestic dispute. During the course of their investigation, they determined a male suspect had produced a loaded handgun and pointed it at a female victim during the altercation.
Following this incident, police executed a search warrant at the same residence, which resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of firearms, including handguns, rifles and shotguns, and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
Limestone man awaits sentencing
Riley Cowper, 20, of Limestone, will appear for sentencing in provincial court on May 23 at 1:30 p.m. after changing his plea to guilty on two charges related to a violent attack on another local man.
He was scheduled for sentencing on May 14, when the matter was adjourned to allow more time to submit a victim impact statement.
RCMP charged Cowper with attempted murder by using a hammer and a wrench to assault Rodney Butler, mischief causing property damage to a car window, uttering threats, and robbery of a vehicle in connection with an incident on Aug. 10, 2024, at Jackson Falls.
He pleaded guilty to the lesser included offences of indictable assault with a weapon and indictable theft of a motor vehicle. The crown withdrew the remaining two charges. A federal prison sentence is expected for the accused.
Cowper was arrested on Aug. 13, 2024, and ordered to have no contact with Butler, who was treated at a hospital for injuries and later released. Cowper waived his bail and has been in custody since his arrest.
Remanded for plea
Daniel Jr. Francis, 32, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), appeared in provincial court in custody by video on May 15 for a bail hearing. He waived his bail until later and returned to court in custody for a plea on May 29 at 9:30 a.m.
Francis was charged by RCMP with two counts of assault with a weapon (a knife) involving two male victims, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and possession of ammunition while prohibited, concerning an incident on May 5 at Neqotkuk.
Trial underway in domestic dispute
Jorge Heinz Fenske, 56, of Greenfield, appeared for trial in provincial court in custody on May 16 after pleading not guilty to several charges laid by RCMP. The trial continued into the afternoon on Friday.
Fenske was denied bail and remanded to jail on Feb. 27. He was charged with breaching an undertaking (no-contact order) in connection with an incident on Feb. 1 at Greenfield and breach of an undertaking (no contact), assault with a weapon and uttering threats between Feb. 14-15 at Greenfield.
Fenske was also charged with assault causing bodily harm involving a female victim, assault with a weapon (a broom), and unlawful confinement for an incident on Nov. 16, 2024, at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation). He was also charged with assault, causing bodily harm, uttering threats and taking a vehicle without consent following an incident on Dec. 10, 2024, at Wotstak.
