Woodstock Provincial Court: Sentence pending for drug trafficking

Jacob Richard Sewell, 34, of Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), appeared for trial in provincial court on Feb. 19 and changed his plea to guilty on a drug trafficking charge laid by the RCMP. His sentencing was set for May 27 at 9:30 a.m.

Sewell was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine in connection with incidents on April 24 and May 2, 2025, in Woodstock. The court heard Sewell was caught selling cocaine to an undercover police officer during two incidents. With the consent of the Crown, the two counts were rolled into one trafficking charge.

Not-guilty after trial

Jessica Brewer, 35, of Wakefield, appeared in provincial court on Feb. 18 for a verdict following her trial. Judge Sebastian Michaud found her not guilty of assault and a second charge of assault with a weapon was withdrawn by the Crown.

Brewer was charged by the RCMP with assault on a minor and assault with a weapon (plates, spoons and a chair) in connection with an incident between Jan. 1, 2019, and May 20, 2024, in Wakefield. She pleaded not guilty and her trial wrapped up in January.

Remanded for mental health assessment

Dominic (Dominique) Gagnon, 40, of Beechwood, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 19 for a bail hearing on charges laid by RCMP.

The accused waived bail until later and was remanded to Restigouche hospital for a 30-day mental health assessment. A fitness hearing was booked in provincial court for March 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Gagnon was charged by the RCMP with committing public mischief, uttering threats and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on Feb. 17 at Stickney.

Guilty on sex charges

Johnny Lee Bloodsworth, 39, of Arthurette, was found guilty after trial on multiple sex charges and one count of uttering threats when he appeared in provincial court on Feb. 18. Judge Karen Lee ordered him remanded to jail to await his sentencing on April 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Judge Lee found him guilty on four counts of sexual assault and four counts of touching a female minor for a sexual purpose in connection with incidents between July 10, 2023 and Sept. 4, 2023. His conviction on the four counts of sexual assault was stayed under a legal rule preventing multiple convictions for the same criminal act. Judge Lee noted four other charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

The judge found Bloodsworth not guilty of sexual assault and touching a female minor for a sexual purpose, but guilty of uttering threats between April 1, 2023 and Sept. 1, 2023. Four other charges were withdrawn by the Crown.

Bloodsworth’s lengthy trial concluded in December. The allegations involved two complainants. All charges were laid by the RCMP. He appeared in provincial court in custody by video on June 25, 2024, for a bail hearing and was released with conditions.

He pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of breaching his release order. His trial was set for July 2 at 9:30 a.m. Bloodsworth was charged by RCMP in connection with an incident between Jan. 31 and May 30, 2025, in Arthurette. He was arrested and released on conditions.

10 months in jail, minus time served

Morgan Nicholas, 30, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), was sentenced to 10 months in jail, minus time served when he appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 19. He pleaded guilty to several charges laid by the RCMP.

Judge Rose Campbell also placed Nicholas on 12 months of probation and ordered him to register with the federal DNA database. A two-year prohibition on weapons was also imposed.

Nicholas appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Dec. 4, 2025, and was denied bail. On Thursday, the court heard he had a remand credit of 125 days which will be applied to his jail sentence. He had a prior criminal record.

On Jan. 13, Nicholas pleaded guilty to resisting arrest following an altercation on Nov. 29, 2025, at a residence in Neqotkuk. Another charge of breaching his release order was withdrawn by the Crown.

Nicholas also pleaded guilty to failing to attend court and assault causing bodily harm to a correctional officer on Jan. 21, 2024, at Madawaska. He also pleaded guilty to theft from a gas bar on May 25, 2025, in Perth-Andover, and two counts of breaching his house arrest on June 3 and Sept. 9, 2025, at Neqotkuk. 

Trial continues in April

Cindy Demerchant, 53, of Lower Kintore, appeared for trial in provincial court on Feb. 19 on two charges laid by the RCMP. After one day of testimony, Judge Henrik Tonning adjourned the trial for continuation on April 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Demerchant was charged with break and enter and theft of food and money from Tim Hortons in Perth-Andover between May 9 and May 31, 2024.  She pleaded not guilty. Evidence presented by the Crown at trial included video surveillance from the restaurant. Testimony from staff revealed Demerchant was an employee who allegedly entered the premises after hours.

Charged with assault

Amy Rennie, 42, of Woodstock, will appear in provincial court on March 17 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on an assault charge laid by the RCMP.

Rennie was charged with assaulting a male victim on Jan. 3 in Rosedale. She made her first court appearance on Feb. 17 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.

Beaconsfield man released

Marshall Turner, 25, of Beaconsfield, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 19 for a bail hearing. He was released with conditions and returns to court for plea on March 3 at 9:30 a.m. He must report to the RCMP every 48 hours as part of his release.

Turner was charged with breaching his release order (ankle bracelet) on Feb. 16 in Wilmot. At an earlier court appearance, he was charged by the RCMP with driving while prohibited on Oct. 29, 2025, at Lakeville; possession of a stolen utility trailer, driving while prohibited and breaking into a barn on Nov. 17, 2025, at Meductic. He will enter a plea to those charges on March 3 at 9:30 a.m.

Remanded for bail hearing

Brandon Coté, 30, of no fixed address, appeared in provincial court in custody via video for a bail hearing on Feb. 19. The hearing was adjourned until Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Coté was charged by the RCMP with flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of a firearm without a licence (a pump-action shotgun), breach of probation, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and possession of a firearm while prohibited from having it in connection with an incident on Feb. 16 in Florenceville-Bristol.

10 days in jail for theft

Felicia Fulton, 31, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody via video for a bail hearing on Feb. 19 after being arrested on a theft charge. She waived her bail and pleaded guilty to the offence.

Fulton was charged with theft of an Apple AirTag tracking device from the Home Zone Electronics Store in Florenceville-Bristol on Jan. 26. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail concurrent to a 120-day sentence she is already serving on other theft charges in Edmundston. She must pay $40 restitution for stealing the AirTag. She had a prior criminal record.

Sentencing adjourned

Jacob Jinson, 26, of Somerville, appeared in provincial court in custody on Feb. 19 for sentencing after pleading guilty to three charges laid by the RCMP. His sentencing was adjourned until Feb. 26 at 9:30 a.m. to allow for the completion of a pre-sentence report.

Jinson appeared in provincial court in custody via video for a bail hearing on Dec. 31, 2025, after being arrested on a warrant on a charge of breaching a no-contact order. He was denied bail and remanded to jail. He later pleaded guilty to uttering threats on April 10, 2024, in Somerville, breaching his curfew on April 20, 2024, and failing to appear in court on Aug. 6, 2024. The remaining breach charge was withdrawn.

On Feb. 17, Jinson also appeared in provincial court in custody via video to answer a separate charge laid by Woodstock Police.  He was charged with possession of stolen property (a Husqvarna string trimmer) on Oct. 30, 2025, in Woodstock. He returns to court for plea on March 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Another individual, Christopher Mean, 36, of Woodstock, also appeared in court on Feb. 17 on a charge of having a stolen Husqvarna string trimmer on the same date. He returns to court for plea on March 17 at 9:30 a.m.

Theft and fraud charges         

Sherry Lynn Williams, 61, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Feb. 18 for plea on six charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned until March 3 at 11 a.m. at the request of her defence counsel.

Williams was charged with three counts of theft and three counts of fraud stemming from three separate incidents in Woodstock between Feb. 19, 2019, and June 7, 2019; between March 6, 2019, and April 22, 2019; and between Jan. 13, 2017, and June 5, 2019. The alleged victims were special needs adults.

The court heard a resolution is being sought with the Crown. At an earlier court appearance, Williams expressed her intention to plead guilty to the charges.

In custody awaiting plea

Dawson William Boyle, 25, of Taymouth, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 19 to answer nine charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until March 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Boyle was charged with multiple counts of possession of stolen property following an incident on Aug. 24, 2025, in Woodstock. He also appeared in court in custody in Saint John on Feb. 2 in relation to other separate charges in Fredericton and Moncton.

Plea adjourned until March

Grant Rediker, 43, of Oakland, appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 19 for plea on several charges laid by RCMP. The matter was adjourned until March 13 at 1:30 p.m.

Rediker was charged with breach of a no-contact order, criminal harassment, threatening to put explicit images online and transmitting intimate images without consent, concerning incidents between Jan. 21 and Jan. 26 in Florenceville-Bristol.

He appeared in court in custody via video for a bail hearing on Feb. 5 and waived his bail until later.

At an earlier court appearance, Rediker pleaded not guilty to other separate charges and trial dates were set for May 1 and May 4 at 9:30 a.m. A pre-trial conference was also set for March 13 at 1:30 p.m.

Rediker was charged by RCMP with assault with a weapon (a vehicle), possession of ammunition while prohibited, possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence, careless use of a firearm, being an occupant of a vehicle knowing it carried a firearm, break and enter at a garage, and illegal possession of methamphetamine.

The charges were laid in connection with an incident involving a female victim on March 12, 2025, at Oakland.

Three charged in string of thefts

Three individuals have been charged in connection with a string of thefts in the Woodstock area.

Michael Ronald McKee, 25, of Woodstock, appeared in court in custody via video on Feb. 19 and told the court he intended to plead guilty to all charges. The matter was adjourned until March 26 at 1:30 p.m. for a monitoring hearing after McKee requested the transfer of his file to Fredericton where he is facing other charges.

McKee and Bastian Kitchener Bradbury, 19, of Fredericton, were each charged with breaking into a woodworking shop on Searle Street in Woodstock, possession of stolen tools, possession of a stolen vehicle (a Mazda CX5), possession of break-in tools, and prowling at night on Nov. 24, 2025.  Bradbury also faces a charge of wearing a mask for the commission of an offence.

McKee waived his bail until later. He was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle for an incident on Nov. 5, 2025, at Bedell.

Both men were also charged with theft of copper wire on Nov. 24, 2025, from the back of a truck at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation). The court heard the two are also facing other charges in Fredericton.

Bradbury appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Feb. 5 for a bail hearing. He was released with conditions to a rehab facility near Sussex and returns to court for plea on March 3 at 1:30 p.m.

Madison Anderson, 20, of Fredericton, formerly of Plaster Rock, was charged with two counts of theft on Nov. 24, 2025, at the Petro Canada near Meductic. She is also charged in connection with a copper wire theft at Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation) on the same date. She returns to court for plea on March 3 at 9:30 a.m.

Not-guilty plea

Brycen Trae Stewart, 28, of Lakeville, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Feb. 19 for a monitoring hearing after pleading not guilty to two counts of breaching his release order. The court heard a resolution is being sought with the Crown so the matter was adjourned until Feb. 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Stewart was charged by Woodstock Police stemming from incidents on Dec. 4, and Dec. 7, 2025, in Woodstock. He was denied bail and remanded. His trial was booked for March 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Stewart appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on Dec. 8, 2025, to answer a charge of breaching his release order on Dec. 7, 2025, at Wilmot. He was released with conditions at that time but was re-arrested.

He is also awaiting trial on March 12-13 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to other charges laid by Woodstock Police and RCMP.

Stewart was charged by Woodstock Police with dangerous driving, flight from police and breaching his curfew on Dec. 16, 2024, in Woodstock. He was also charged with breaching a no-contact order on Jan. 13, 2025, in Woodstock.

Stewart was also charged with two counts of breaching his release order (curfew) concerning incidents on Sept. 24 and Oct. 8, 2024, in Woodstock. He was charged with breaking into a dwelling house on May 25, 2024, in Killoween and possession of stolen vehicle on Aug. 4, 2023, in Lakeville.

Coldstream man to stand trial

Damian Oakes, 26, of Coldstream, will appear in provincial court on March 5 at 9:30 a.m. for a monitoring hearing about his trial in April.

Defence Counsel Annie Maltais told the court there were disclosure issues with the Crown that must be discussed before trial. The March hearing will confirm to the court if those issues are resolved.

Oakes was charged by RCMP with uttering threats and unlawful entry at a dwelling house in connection with an incident Dec. 2, 2024, at Coldstream. He pleaded not guilty.

Oakes was also charged with indictable sexual assault, touching for a sexual purpose, and using a weapon to commit an assault (a lighter) in connection with an incident between Jan. 1, 2017 and Dec. 13, 2021. He pleaded not guilty.

In custody in federal prison

Jonathon Daniel Stockford, 36, of Hartland, appeared in provincial court in custody via video from federal prison on Feb. 19 to answer a theft charge laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until March 2 at 9:30 a.m.

Stockford was charged with theft from Brennan’s Home Hardware Store in Woodstock on July 7, 2025. The court heard he was recently sentenced to four years in prison on other charges in Fredericton.

He also appeared in provincial court in custody via video on Jan. 5 and pleaded not guilty to a stolen property charge. His trial was booked for July 13 at 9:30 a.m.

Stockford was charged by the RCMP with possession of a stolen side-by-side in an incident on July 20, 2025, at Waterville.

He will also appear for trial in provincial court in custody on March 23 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to other charges laid by RCMP.

Stockford was charged with breaching his release order following an incident on Feb. 18, 2025, at Bedell as well as dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while suspended, and breach of probation concerning another incident on Aug. 21, 2024, in Woodstock. 

Woodstock man awaiting trial

Patrick Rattray, 30, of Woodstock, will appear for trial in provincial court on March 26-27 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to charges laid by Woodstock Police. A monitoring hearing was held on Feb. 19 when his legal counsel confirmed he will be ready to proceed to trial.

Rattray was charged with assault causing bodily harm involving a female victim, assault by choking, uttering threats and failing to provide the necessities of life in connection with incidents between Jan. 1 and Feb. 9, 2024, in Woodstock.

He was also charged by Woodstock Police with breaching a peace bond, uttering threats, assault, and mischief in connection with an incident on Oct. 9, 2024, in Woodstock.
