Woodstock harness racing event includes New Brunswick Breeders Stakes

Horse Racing New Brunswick’s second racing card of the season at Connell Park Raceway on Saturday, July 6, will include the New Brunswick Breeders Stakes for three-year-old pacers.

Post time for the card is 1 p.m.

In the first leg of the colts division, driver Mark Haig will drive House Edge Hanover, who set a new lifetime mark last week with 1:55.4 for trainer Ron Matheson.

House Edge Hanover, owned by Everette Hanson of Maugerville, was a $10,000 yearling purchase at Harrisburg in 2022.

In the filly division, Littlesticious, another Bettors Delight filly, is owned by Jenn Ritchie. Littlesticous is set as the 9/5 favourite by race secretary Brent Briggs. This leg will feature a $15,000 purse.

With Todd Trites in the bike, the filly was a winner this past Monday at the Woodstock track in 2:03.4. Wayne Watson trains the speedy filly.

Resuscitate is listed as the morning line favourite in the second colt division of the New Brunswick Breeders Stakes. The colt delivered a win for Trites at his last start at Connell Park with a 1:57.2, a new record for the Stonebridge Terror youngster.

Both colt divisions for the first leg in 2024 will run for $8,000 each, with the lone filly division chasing a $15,000 purse.

Several Quebec horsemen and women are shipping in for Saturday’s card,  including top driver Pascal Berube. The card has attracted some excellent overnight events with horses from the other Maritime provinces added.
