Tractor burns after spraying equipment contacts power line

The driver of a tractor escaped serious injury on Monday, July 15, after his spraying equipment contacted a power line in Wicklow, a farming community between Florenceville-Bristol and Perth-Andover.

Western District RCMP Sgt. Dan Sharpe explained that the arm of the spraying equipment attached to the tractor made contact with the electrical lines, causing a fire.

Although examined at the hospital, Sharpe said that, to his knowledge, the tractor driver escaped serious injury.

He said the situation began as a fire call, with the Florenceville-Bristol Fire Department responding to the scene. The RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick, and NB Power also responded.

Sharpe said he believes the fire destroyed the tractor.

He said the accident didn’t cause a significant power outage.

Sharpe said the RCMP will not investigate further. Any investigation would fall under the mandate of Worksafe N.B.
