Newbridge woman held for bail hearing

Tracy Taylor, 41, of Newbridge, appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on Oct. 22 and was remanded to jail. She returns to court in custody for a bail hearing on Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m.

Taylor was charged with breaching her release order (curfew) on Sept. 15 at Grafton and breach of a no-contact order on Oct. 21 in Newbridge.

She will also appear for trial in provincial court on June 11, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to four other charges laid by RCMP.

Taylor appeared in provincial court in custody on April 2 and was released with conditions. She was charged with careless use of a firearm, pointing a gun at another person, possession of a firearm without a licence (a shotgun and rifle) and uttering threats against a male victim in connection with an incident between March 3 and March 31 in Newbridge. She entered her not-guilty plea at a court appearance on June 4.

Conditional discharge, probation

Tori Madeline Snow, 21, of Meductic, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 for sentencing after pleading guilty to an assault charge laid by RCMP. She received a conditional discharge and 12 months of probation.

Snow was charged by RCMP with assaulting another woman, uttering threats, and theft of a safe, following an incident on June 19, 2023, at Meductic.  She pleaded guilty to the assault, and the crown withdrew the remaining two charges. She had no prior criminal record.

The court heard Snow argued with another woman and knocked her to the ground. She was ordered to have no contact with the complainant.

Snow also agreed to sign a 12-month peace bond in relation to several other separate charges. She was charged with assault causing bodily harm to a male person, committing mischief causing property damage, and breaking into a dwelling house with intent to commit an assault, concerning another incident on July 3, 2023, at Meductic. The peace bond resulted in these charges being withdrawn.

Snow appeared in provincial court in custody by video on July 6, 2023, for a bail hearing and was released with conditions, including a curfew and a no-contact order to stay away from the complainants. The curfew was lifted with consent from the crown.

Bairdsville man facing four charges

Jayson Lee O’Hagan, 21, of Bairdsville, will appear in provincial court on Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. to answer four charges laid by RCMP.

O’Hagan was charged with dangerous driving and breaching a release order on Sept. 15 near Bairdsville, possessing a stolen licence plate and breaching a release order on Sept. 26 in Perth-Andover. He appeared in court on Oct. 15 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.

The conditions of his release order prohibited O’Hagan from driving or leaving a residence in Ontario.

Neqotkuk man arrested on multiple charges

Jerico Perley, 21, of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation), will appear in provincial court on Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. to answer eight charges laid by RCMP.

Perley was charged with assault with a weapon involving a female victim, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a prohibited weapon (a guard dog baton/taser) without a licence, possession of a firearm (shotgun) without a licence, assault, assault by choking, and improper storage of a firearm following an incident on Sept. 15 at Neqotkuk.

Perley appeared in court for plea on Oct. 22 when the matter was adjourned to the new date. He appeared in court in custody in September and was released with conditions.

In custody awaiting plea

Bradley Tyler Whitney, 42, of Newbridge, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 22 for plea on multiple charges laid by Woodstock Police and RCMP. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Whitney appeared in court in custody by video on Aug. 26 and was denied bail. He was charged with forging a doctor’s prescription for Dilaudid on July 30 in Woodstock; breaking into a dwelling house on Slipp Street, uttering threats, and breach of probation on July 14; assaulting a female victim, uttering threats and breach of probation on Aug. 24 in Woodstock; and assault with a weapon (a torch) involving a female victim between July 1-28 in Woodstock. He was ordered to have no contact with any of the complainants.

Whitney was also charged with using counterfeit money and fraud concerning a Jan. 1 incident at Newbridge. He was released on an undertaking and then arrested on more charges. He had a limited prior criminal record.

Woodstock woman charged

Dynielle Allison Demerchant, 28, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 to answer two charges laid by Woodstock Police.

Demerchant was charged with identity theft (cards) and possession of methamphetamine concerning an incident on May 2 in Woodstock. She returns to court for plea on Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

She will also appear for trial in provincial court on Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to two other charges. Demerchant was charged by Woodstock Police with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon (a switchblade) in connection with an incident on Dec. 22, 2022, in Woodstock. She entered her not-guilty plea at a court appearance on March 12.

Lakeville man released with conditions

Brycen Trae Stewart, 28, of Lakeville, appeared in court in custody via teleconference on Oct. 22 and was released with conditions.

He was charged with two counts of breaching his release order (curfew) concerning incidents on Sept. 24 and Oct. 8 in Woodstock. He returns to court for plea on Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m.

Stewart appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Aug. 8 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He was charged with breaking into a dwelling house on May 25 in Killoween and possessing a stolen vehicle on Aug. 4, 2023, in Lakeville.

He also returns to court for plea on those charges on Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m. Stewart will be residing at a residence in Carlow until his next court appearance.

Sentencing reset for Armour

Brandon Cecil Armour, 34, of no fixed address, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 22 for sentencing after changing his plea to guilty on several charges. The matter was adjourned until Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. since his defence counsel was not present for his sentencing on Tuesday.

Woodstock Police charged Armour with prowling at night and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on March 24, 2023, in Woodstock. He pleaded guilty on May 1.

On Sept. 5, he also pleaded guilty to breach of an undertaking and failing to attend court on July 11, 2023; guilty to theft of a vehicle and resisting arrest on Aug. 14, 2023, in Woodstock; guilty to two counts of breaching a release order by violating electronic monitoring on Jan. 2 in Summerfield and on Feb. 6 in Johnville.

Armour appeared in provincial court in custody by video on April 11 and was sentenced to one year in jail, minus time served, after pleading guilty to another charge. He was also placed on probation for 12 months.

Armour was charged by RCMP with breaking into a dwelling house, committing mischief causing property damage to a door, and assaulting a female victim, stemming from an incident on June 8, 2022, in Beechwood. He pleaded guilty to breaking into the dwelling, and the crown withdrew the two remaining charges.

Change of plea expected

Brandon Schriver, 22, of Johnville, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 21 for monitoring about his trial on charges laid by RCMP. The matter was adjourned until Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m.  The court heard a resolution is being sought with the crown about a change of plea on some of the charges.

Schriver appeared in court in custody on Feb. 29 for a bail hearing and was remanded to jail. RCMP charged him with possession of prohibited weapons (brass knuckles and three knives), assaulting a police officer with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, possession of a stolen vehicle, and breach of probation in connection with an incident on Feb. 22 in Johnville.

Police made the arrest after receiving a report of two suspicious vehicles at a residence in Johnville. Upon arrival, police saw an individual jump into a vehicle, which then rammed the police car before fleeing at a high rate of speed. Police then followed the vehicle until it eventually came to a stop. The driver exited the vehicle but was quickly apprehended by police. No one was injured during the incident.

Sentencing set for Woodstock man

Shane Lee Dickison, 36, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court in custody on Oct. 21 for his trial and changed his plea to guilty on charges laid against him by RCMP and Woodstock Police. His sentencing date was set for Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m.

Dickison was charged with breaching his curfew on June 5 at Dorrington Hill. He was also charged with assault with a weapon (a knife) involving another man, uttering threats, mischief causing property damage to a vehicle, and resisting arrest in connection with an incident on May 6 in Lower Woodstock.  He pleaded guilty on all counts.

The court heard he is also awaiting trial in November on other charges, but those matters may also be resolved by his sentencing date.

Returning for plea

Riley Patrick Michaud, 21, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 for plea on charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Michaud appeared in provincial court in custody on Oct. 8 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He was charged with breaching a no-contact order involving a female complainant following an incident on Oct. 2 in Woodstock.

He was also charged with assault involving a female victim in connection with another incident on Aug. 21 in Woodstock.

Trial set on threat charge

Steven Derek Trecartin, 46, of East Brighton, will appear for trial in provincial court on May 28, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to a threat charge.

Woodstock Police charged Trecartin with uttering threats against a female victim following an incident on Nov. 1, 2023, in Woodstock. He appeared in court on Oct. 22 for monitoring and informed the court he was still trying to secure legal counsel for his trial. Another monitoring date was set for Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Newburg man returning for plea

Jeffrey Richard Bull, 45, of Newburg, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 for plea on two charges laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Bull appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Sept. 9 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He was charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation concerning an incident on Sept. 8 at 2 a.m. when a man suffered a broken elbow after being struck by a bat on St. James Street in Woodstock. The alleged victim was a newcomer to the town for only three days.

Bull was ordered to reside at a residence in Newburg. He must have no contact with the complainant, stay away from St. James Street, and have no weapons in his possession.

Trial date set on multiple charges

Trevor Gerald McDougall, 32, of Perth-Andover, appeared in provincial court in custody on Oct. 22 for monitoring about his trial on a series of charges laid by Woodstock Police. His trial dates were set for Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. and Jan. 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.

McDougall appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Sept. 4 and was denied bail. He was charged with breach of a release order on Aug. 31 in Woodstock, two counts of breaching an emergency intervention order on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, and breach of a no-contact order on Sept. 1.

McDougall was also charged by Woodstock Police with assault involving a female victim on July 26 and then uttering threats and assaulting the same woman on Aug. 21 at a residence in Woodstock. He has a dated prior criminal record.

He pleaded not guilty on all counts. Another monitoring date for his trial was scheduled for Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. He remains in custody.

Facing fraud charge

Anita Albert, 51, of Plaster Rock, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 via teleconference for plea on a fraud charge. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

RCMP charged Albert with defrauding the Timbertown Lounge during an incident on Sept. 11, 2022, in Plaster Rock.

Plea adjourned on four charges

Logan Estey, 20, of Woodstock, appeared in provincial court on Oct.22 to answer four charges. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Woodstock Police charged Estey with two counts of breaching a no-contact order concerning an incident on Aug. 3 in Woodstock. He was ordered to have no further contact with the complainant. He appeared in provincial court in custody on Aug. 8 and was released with conditions.

He was also charged with mischief causing property damage to a window and possession of a firearm for the purpose of committing an offence in connection with an incident on Jan. 1 in Upper Woodstock. The court heard Estey also has other charges in Fredericton.

Nortondale woman charged

Kayley Briand, 23, of Nortondale, will appear in provincial court on Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on an impaired driving charge.

Woodstock Police charged Briand in connection with an incident on May 17 in Woodstock. She appeared in court on Oct. 22 when the matter was adjourned to the new date at the request of her defence counsel.

Plea pending for Aroostook man

Marc Morin, 24, of Aroostook, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 for plea on charges laid by RCMP. The matter was adjourned until Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. to allow him more time to secure legal counsel.

Morin appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 3 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He was arrested on a warrant on Oct. 1 for failing to appear in court.

RCMP charged him with possessing a stolen snowmobile and obstructing a police officer in connection with an incident on March 6, 2023, in Carlingford.  He pleaded not guilty, and his trial date was set.

On Oct. 1, he was also charged with breaching a release order by failing to appear for trial on July 15.

In custody awaiting plea

Edward Hayes Jr., 29, of Benton, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 22 for plea on several charges laid by RCMP. The matter was adjourned until Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

Hayes was denied bail on Aug. 29. He was charged with refusing a breathalyzer demand, resisting arrest, assaulting two police officers, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, assault on a female victim, mischief causing property damage to a vehicle, and driving while prohibited in connection with an incident on Aug. 27 at Centreville. Hayes also faces a separate charge of assault involving a female on June 17 at a residence in Centreville.

On Oct. 22, the court issued a warrant of committal for non-payment of a $690 fine. Hayes agreed to purge the fine while in custody.

Resolution sought on multiple charges

Erica Ann Trecartin, 28, of Lower Brighton, appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 22 for plea on multiple charges laid by RCMP. The matters were adjourned until Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the request of her defence counsel.

The court heard a resolution is being sought with the crown. Trecartin also has charges in other jurisdictions that may lead to a transfer of her charges to Woodstock.

Trecartin appeared in provincial court in custody by video for a bail hearing on Oct. 1 and was denied bail. RCMP charged her with failing to appear in court on June 24 and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking concerning an incident in Grafton on Jan. 29.

Trecartin was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while suspended, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while prohibited, and breach of probation for an incident on Nov. 3, 2022. She pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was set but failed to appear.

She was also charged with indictable breach of probation on Jan. 29, breaching an undertaking (curfew) on Feb. 24, and two counts of failing to appear in court on March 18 and April 9.

A co-accused Ronald McLaughlin, 33, of St. Stephen, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison on Aug. 12 after pleading guilty to five charges laid by RCMP. 

McLaughlin appeared in provincial court in custody on Jan. 30. RCMP charged him with dangerous driving, driving while suspended, and driving without insurance, stemming from the same incident on Jan. 29 in Grafton. The court heard he was being held in custody on other charges in Saint John.

McLaughlin was also charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the same incident in Grafton. On May 2, an additional charge was laid for failing to appear in court on March 5. He received 36 months in prison on the drug charge as well as additional jail time for the driving offences and failing to appear.

Moved to alternative measures

Daniel Mark Perry, 35, of Jacksonville, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 to set a date for his trial on an assault charge.

The matter was moved to the alternative measures program with the consent of the crown. Perry has until Jan. 28, 2025, to complete the requirements of the program in order to have the charge withdrawn.

Perry was charged by Woodstock Police with assault involving a female victim in connection with an incident on Sept. 14 in Woodstock. He pleaded not guilty at a court appearance on Oct. 1. He was released on an undertaking to have no contact with the complainant.

Returning for trial on assault charge

Philip McCarthy, 39, of Grand Falls, will appear for trial in provincial court on Sept. 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. after pleading not guilty to an assault charge. He appeared in court on Oct. 22 for monitoring about his trial.

RCMP charged McCarthy with assault involving a female victim concerning an incident on July 28 at Riley Brook. He pleaded not guilty at a court appearance on Oct. 1.

Another monitoring date for his trial was also scheduled for Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. He was ordered to have no contact with the complainant.

Plea date set for December

Mitchell LaFrance, 26, of Perth-Andover, appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 for plea on charges laid by RCMP.  The matter was adjourned for plea until Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

LaFrance was charged with breaching a no-contact order for an incident on Sept. 21 at Florenceville-Bristol. He appeared in court in custody by video on Sept. 25 for a bail hearing and was released with conditions. He also faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm involving a female victim stemming from an incident on July 19 at Carlingford.

LaFrance also appeared for trial in provincial court on Oct. 10 and changed his plea to guilty on two other charges laid by RCMP. He returns to court for sentencing on Jan. 21, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.

LaFrance pleaded guilty to breaching an undertaking by failing to comply with a no-contact order at East Brighton on Oct. 2, 2023.

He also pleaded guilty to criminal harassment for incidents between Aug. 28 and Sept. 25, 2023, in Lower Brighton, involving the same female complainant. The court heard he tried to contact the same female victim hundreds of times by phone, text message and on Facebook. The crown withdrew a threat charge.

Trial postponed on assault charges

Brittany Priscilla King, 27, of Woodstock, appeared for trial in provincial court on Oct. 21 on charges laid by Woodstock Police. The trial was adjourned until Dec. 5 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of her defence counsel.

Woodstock Police charged King with assault with a weapon (a knife), assault causing bodily harm to a male victim, theft, and breaking into a dwelling house concerning an incident on Nov. 5, 2023, in Woodstock. She pleaded not guilty.

Charged with indictable assault

Travis Sappier of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) appeared in provincial court on Oct. 22 to answer an indictable assault charge. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the request of his defence counsel.

RCMP charged Sappier with aggravated assault by wounding another man in connection with an incident on May 19 at Neqotkuk. He was released on an undertaking until his next court appearance. On Oct. 22, the court heard a resolution was being sought with the crown.

Plea adjourned

Ryan James Dunford, 43, of London, Ontario, appeared in provincial court via teleconference on Oct. 22 to answer one charge laid by Woodstock Police. The matter was adjourned for plea until Nov.12 at 9:30 a.m.

Dunford was charged with mischief causing property damage to a vehicle on June 21 in Woodstock.  He was released on an undertaking and entered a rehab facility in Ontario.

Neqotkuk woman charged

Michelle Perley of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) will appear in provincial court on Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on an assault charge laid by RCMP.

Perley was charged with assaulting a man in the community on July 7. She was released on an undertaking to have no contact with the complainant. Perley was scheduled for plea on Oct. 22 when the matter was adjourned to the new date.

Alternative measures not completed

Jerrica Bear of Neqotkuk (Tobique First Nation) will appear in provincial court on Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. for plea on two charges laid by RCMP. She was scheduled to enter a plea on Oct. 22 when the matter was adjourned.

Bear was arrested on a warrant on Sept. 20 for failing to appear in court and was released with conditions. She was charged with fraud and uttering a forged document concerning an incident at Neqotkuk.

The matter was moved to the alternative measures program with the consent of the crown. On Sept. 24, the court heard Bear failed to complete the program and the charges would proceed.

Two charged in break-in

James Blair Hovey, 27, of Perth-Andover, and Justin Ryan Shea, 36, of Woodstock, are awaiting plea on charges related to a break-in at a residence in Woodstock.

They appeared in provincial court in custody by video on Oct. 3 for their bail hearings. Shea was released with conditions. He appeared in court for plea on Oct. 22 when the matter was adjourned until Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Hovey was also released with conditions and returns to court for plea on Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m.

They were each charged by Woodstock Police with break, enter and theft at a dwelling house on Creighton Street on Sept. 26. Hovey was also accused of breach of probation, while Shea faced an additional charge of breaching an undertaking (curfew).

Shea will also appear in provincial court on Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on two other charges laid by Woodstock Police. He was charged with mischief, causing property damage, break and enter, as well as theft at the East Coast Truck Wash for an incident on March 17 in Lower Woodstock.

Hovey also appeared in provincial court on July 23 and pleaded not guilty to two charges laid by RCMP. His trial date was set for July 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.

RCMP charged Hovey with possession of a stolen vehicle and breach of probation stemming from an incident on Jan. 9 at Carlingford. He appeared in provincial court in custody via teleconference on May 21 after being arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He was released with conditions at that time.

Hovey appeared in provincial court on April 30 and pleaded not guilty to other charges laid by RCMP. His trial date was set for May 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. RCMP charged him with possession of a stolen ATV, flight from police, and breach of probation concerning an incident on March 30 at Tobique Narrows.
