Two released with conditions, set to appear in court later
The Saint-Léonard RCMP has arrested a 35-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both from Grand Falls, following a drug seizure in Grand Falls.
On July 10, members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Saint-André Road in the community, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed through a construction zone. He quickly stopped on Madawaska Road due to heavy traffic.
A 35-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both from Grand Falls, were arrested at the scene without incident. Following a search of the vehicle and its occupants, police seized a quantity of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine, prescription opioids, a machete, a katana, drug trafficking paraphernalia and money. They were later released on conditions and will appear in court at a later date. The vehicle was also impounded for being illegally on the road and for not having a safety inspection.
The public also plays a vital role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illicit drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.
